A Focus on Social Emotional Learning
FOCUS ON TEAMWORK
This month EMG is focusing on the SEL concept of Teamwork. Teamwork is working respectfully with a group and doing your share of the work. Treating others with kindness and respect as you work together results in effective teamwork. Self-control and clear communication are skills that affect a person’s ability to be a valuable team member. Working in teams, or groups, gives children the opportunity to build the skills needed to work well with others. It also builds a sense of community and makes completing a task more fun!
Encourage children to participate in group activities. As they develop skills, they will also begin to recognize their strengths, as well as the strengths and talents of everyone in the group. Whether students are working on a class project or collaborating in sports, mastering the art of being a team player will help them succeed in school and throughout their lives.
