Dear Families,
We have officially turned the corner into the second semester of learning and it has been a privilege to work in partnership with you to be the very best school district we can be!
The NBAPS Strategic Planning Advisory committee comprised of students, staff, parents and community leaders met last week. I am so grateful for the time spent to engage in conversation about complex topics. When we make decisions after considering multiple perspectives we are truly better together.
I am also looking for a few people that can come alongside us to serve as substitutes in our district. I would love to have the opportunity to have a conversation with anyone interested in learning more. I am excited to share more about the flexibility of how you get to create your own schedule and how the daily rate of pay and incentive pay structure make substituting in our school district worth your time. And most importantly, we have a great team to work with that I am confident will make your Viking heart proud!
Please contact me at spaul@isd138.org and I can walk you through the process and answer any questions you might have. We refer to our substitutes as Viking Support Stars. Being a Viking Support Star makes a huge difference for NBAPS!
Thank you for partnering with us each and every day as we move forward together. SKOL!
Sara Paul
Superintendent

Speakers Corner at Norse/DLA
On Jan. 10, the NBPD was featured at Speaker’s Corner, a regular event hosted by the Norse ALC that introduces jobs and industries to Norse and Distance Learning students. Police Chief Dan Meyer talked about his journey in law enforcement, and SRO Mike Nelson spoke to students about making 'responsible decisions' and navigating away from negative behaviors.
Welker wins cover contest
Congratulations to 8th grader Anna Welker! Anna's NBAMS Yearbook cover was chosen by peers to be the face of the 2023-2024 yearbook. A huge thank you to Art teacher Lee Ann Falen for including the yearbook cover contest in her 8th grade classes. There were many excellent submissions!
Keep up with Community Education
See what's coming up in Community Education in the February Highlights newsletter. Also, look for "Coming Up in Community Ed" every Friday at the district Facebook page.

NBAHS 2024-25 Registration Guide now available
NBAHS has a newly designed registration guide, available at the high school’s Parent/Student Resources page. The goal is to provide motivation for students to envision their future and help guide their course selections to achieve that future. Engaging students as active participants rather than passive passengers in their high school experience is what "Choice Not Chance" is all about. Click here to go directly to the guide!
