Looking for Your Thoughts
How has D123 formed meaningful learning partnerships with parents, families, and the broader learning community? School District 123 values the learning partnerships that are formed between our families, students and staff. Each year District 123 strives to ensure that all members of the learning community are able to connect with classrooms, and the school system in valuable and meaningful ways.
District 123 has intentionally created opportunities for connection including:
- Meet & Greet Opportunities
- School Open Houses
- Family Conferences (In-Person, Virtual, and Telephone)
- Remind, Seesaw, and Email Communication Tools
- Individual Classroom Curricular Newsletters
- Principal Tuesday Take Home Communication
Chromebooks, Backpacks, and Lunches, Oh My!
Please remember to have your child take a peek around their surroundings prior to leaving home in the morning. There are many things dropped off at school late in the morning. This leads to interruption in instruction when the classroom gets a phone call to let them know something has arrived. Sometimes classrooms receive multiple calls in the morning when water bottles, lunches, backpacks, permission forms, and Chromebooks get delivered.
***As for looking around at their surroundings, our Lost and Found is overflowing with items. If you notice that something is missing at home, please have your child check the Lost and Found here at school.
Message from Nurse Dina
As many parents know, this time of the year can bring viruses, flu, and respiratory infections. One illness that is on the rise is Respiratory Syncytial Virus or better known as RSV. RSV is attributed to many hospitalizations among children. This virus can cause infections of the lung and breathing passages. Most of the time symptoms can range from very mild, like the common cold, to very serious symptoms leading to pneumonia or other lung infections. Symptoms will usually start around 5 days after exposure to the virus, and can include all or some of the following... runny nose, cough, wheezing, and fever. RSV is highly contagious and can be spread up to eight days after the start of symptoms. It is spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes for example. RSV can live on surfaces for several hours and on hands for 30-60 minutes. So hand washing, and cleaning surfaces are very important to stop the spread. Please teach children to cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and do not send them to school if feeling unwell , have moderate to severe cold-like symptoms or have constant coughs.
