Throw It Out The Thursday!
Good Morning Spartans!
Happy Thursday! You only have two more days to this long week and we are here to help if you should anything. Let's start this amazing day by throwing out the old and welcoming in the new!
WEEKEND
What did you just think of when you read the word weekend? What was your automatic thought?
Automatic thoughts are images, words, or other kinds of mental activity that pop into your head in response to a trigger. These thoughts can seem mundane or unimportant, but they can, in fact, be extremely impactful. The types of automatic thoughts a person has can affect their health outcomes as well as their overall quality of life. Positive automatic thoughts can offset the negative effects of both negative automatic thoughts and stress in general. For example, people with frequent positive automatic thoughts are likely to respond to stress by feeling that their lives are more meaningful, while people with infrequent positive automatic thoughts are likely to respond to stress by feeling that their lives are less meaningful (Boyraz & Lightsey, 2012). Furthermore, higher levels of positive automatic thoughts are correlated with higher levels of happiness (Lightsey, 1994).
Join us in throwing out those negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones. Write it down...what automatic negative thought do you often find yourself thinking? Write this down and replace it with a positive automatic thought. For example, you might be entering into the day with a large project on your mind. If you are thinking "I don't know where to start" replace it with "I can do this". Lastly, write down a couple of things you can do that support your positive automatic thought. Game plan with yourself and maybe have an accountability partner along the way! There is no better feeling than supporting each other in a positive and happier life!
Have a terrific Thursday,

How do I report an absence?
Great question! Please have your parent/guardian reach out to our School Nurse, Ms. Farrar at cfarrar@dps109.org or by calling the front office 847-948-0620 to leave a message.
You can then reach out to your teachers individually via email to let them know you will be absent and see what you might miss for the day. Check Google Classroom as well.
