Dear Vista Families,


Thank you for a great week back! Just a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 15th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr holiday.


TK/Kindergarten Orientation:

On Friday, January 19th at 1:30pm, Vista del Valle will hold it's annual Orientation. Please spread the word with families that have a TK or Kindergarten age student.


More Road Construction Coming:

We were very fortunate that the construction hasn't start however keep in mind that it is coming. The Gas Company has notified us that contractors will be performing excavation and/or construction work from 1/2/2024 to 4/2/2024. The location address is showing up as 607 S. Indian Hill Blvd. When looking on a Google map, it appears to be between San Jose Ave and Vista Drive which may affect your commute to and from school. Please plan accordingly.

An Upcoming Retirement

Since 2008, Mrs. Gloria Curley has been Vista del Valle's Health Aide and Attendance Clerk. For the past 15 years she has been a part of the Vista family; building relationships with families and providing TLC to our students who are under the weather. It is with sadness that she will be leaving our team and retiring. We wish you the best. You will be missed!

December Attendance Challenge Results

Vista struggled in the month of December as we didn't meet our expected outcome of 95% attendance for the month. We completely understand as it was cold weather, cough-cold season, and the flu that was hovering around. We would like to extend this challenge to January. If in the month of January, we reach 90% attendance, students will enjoy music at recess. Should we reach 95%, the students voted on a school wide pizza party. We can do this, Vikings!!!

An Important Note about Attendance

Just a reminder that Excused Absences due to personal reasons are as listed below. Reasons other than those listed are considered unexecused absences. This is a mandate by the State of California.


  1. Family funeral
  2. Appearances in court
  3. Holiday or ceremony of student’s religion or culture
  4. Family emergency (verifiable)


When you leave a message on the attendance line, please clarify the reason. Thank you for bringing your child to school everyday.

iPad Insurance

During the first week of school, teachers will send out an iPad check out form. Please be sure to return this form as soon as possible. iPads will not be sent home until this form is returned to your classroom teacher. Enclosed is the iPad insurance form. For a nominal fee, you can insure your child's iPad for the entire school year.
