Let's Celebrate!
Dear Families,
It is a week of celebration! This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we have such a great staff to celebrate. It’s hard to believe that May is already here, and I continue to be so grateful for the way our students, staff, and families work together to make this a successful year for our kids and our community.
Over the years being a teacher has become quite challenging, but our staff have continued to work hard to meet every child where they are currently functioning. Every day they educate, nurture, and support our students to do their very best.
We have had parents bring in coffee, muffins, and treats for our teachers already this week and I want to thank them for this act of kindness. As we recognize the many talents and gifts our teachers possess please take a few minutes to review a few simple ways to acknowledge a teacher this week:
- You can send a thank-you note. It may seem simple, but acknowledging your child’s teacher in the form of a personal card or letter can mean more than any tangible gift.
- Write a letter and allow your child to write one too—this allows your child to practice writing skills and provides an opportunity to consider the impact of his/her education.
- Tweet for teacher! Use social media to thank your child’s teacher publicly and highlight what they have done throughout the year.
- Parents and students can offer their time to help teachers reorganize materials and supplies as we approach the end of the year.
Thanking you in advance for helping our teachers feel appreciated!

Hello Elementary Families,
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of the school year! We have a busy few weeks left! Please join us on Monday, May 2nd for our music concert beginning at 6pm and Wednesday, There will be no school on Friday, May 6th due to the school track meet. Come cheer on our Buffaloes! We would also love for you to eat lunch at the park with us on Friday, May 13th before our Track and Field Day.
Throughout the rest of the year, we will be celebrating all of the students' hard work and accomplishments! We are going to be doing an all school celebration for meeting our MAP reading goal as a whole school on the last day of school! We are celebrating the growth students have made from the fall to the spring! Students in grades K-2 will head to the park around 9:30 and participate in activity rotations until 11:00. Students will then eat lunch in the park from 11:00-11:30. Students in grades 3-6 will eat lunch in the park from 12:00-12:30 and then participate in activities from 12:30-2:00. Some of these activities include a little water (depending on weather)! Dr. Schroder will be grilling on the last day of school, so students may pack their lunch or eat the school lunch. We will get a count for school lunch as it gets closer to May 18th!
Thinking Ahead to Next Year:
-A postcard will be sent home around the beginning of August with your child’s teacher for the next school year. We will post on our facebook and send a message out when we mail them out!
Next year 4th, 5th and 6th graders will transition from teacher to teacher on the third floor as they receive instruction in all content areas. Fourth grade will still remain with Mrs. Bauer for a large portion of the day! We hope this continues to create collaboration on the third floor!

Good evening MS and HS families:
As we enter the Month of May, we are near to wrapping up another amazing school year with our tremendous students and staff. There are several end of the year activities taking place, and all of these events are placing our students and their accomplishments at the forefront. This past month we hosted the Activities banquet. The Booster Club provided and awesome meal and we had the best attendance for this event that I can remember. Coming up on the 10th of May, we will have the NHS induction ceremony followed by Senior awards and scholarship recognitions. This event begins at 6:30 PM. Please come out to celebrate the new inductees to NHS and see the awesome work our seniors have put in to earn scholarships.
The 6th of May is the home HS Track invitational and the 9th is the home MS Track invitational. Both of these events begin at 9:00 AM. THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON THE 6th of May.

“If you play golf in Nebraska, then you better learn to play with wind.” - Some wise Nebraska golfer probably
That’s been the theme of the season for the golfers of this state. Pictures of flags bend over at 90 degree angles rule social media among the golf coaches of this state. Golfers in this state have had to get used to higher than normal scores. There are 2 things you can count on, I’m learning as a golf coach, golf meets will be windy and the day before the golf meet will be the nicest day of the week. Despite this, we should be proud of how our golfers at Elm Creek have competed. It’s not surprising considering they are all weathered veterans by now, but nonetheless the conditions could break any seasoned golfer.
With some up and down scores, we’ve performed really well. The team brought home a 1st place finish at the Hi-Line Invitatel at Lakeside Golf Course at Johnson Lake. We’ve also finished second at the Arcadia/Loup City Invite and 3rd at the Overton Invite, Cambridge Invite, and Alma Invite. Individually, Brady Spotanski has been a top 15 finisher 7 times, earning 1st place at Hi-Line and Overton Invites. Nate Gillming has been a top 15 finisher seven times as well with a 2nd place finish at the Alma invite. Gabe Trampe has also finished in the top 15 twice. Brady, Skylar, and Avery have all hit their personal competitive lows this year. We are really proud of how each golfer has competed and improved this season.
Finishing out the season, we will compete in the FKC conference meet on May 3rd at Lakeside Golf Course at Johnson Lake. May 16 will be our district meet at Franklin Golf Course in Franklin, and the State meet will be held May 24 and 25 at Lake Maloney Golf Course south of North Platte.
We appreciate your support and are proud to represent Elm Creek. Be on the lookout for results and pictures from our season on the school’s facebook page, twitter page, and website. You can also follow out golf team along on twitter with @EC_BuffsGolf to see pictures, results, and everything EC golf!
