A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
There is a lot to think about in here so I won't add any more!
Here is a way to make this newsletter a little easier to process. All the info you need is in here.
1. Make sure you know the spirit days next week.
2. Register your child if they are entering K next year!
3. Send in coins in the next couple of weeks if you can.
4. Mark your calendar for either January 25 at 8:05 AM OR January 31 at 6:00 PM to learn about all that is going on here at RES.
5. Email Michelle Pitts (mpitts@sau50.org) your family name for the new playground!
And DONE!
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts

Support for Our Families
We are learning more and more from some of our students about how some of our families may have been impacted by flooding and other damage from the recent storms. At RES, we want you to know that we are here if there is anything we can do to support your family or your child here at school. Please reach out to Michelle if you need anything!

Principal Chats
As we plan the rest of the school year, I have scheduled a morning and an evening of reflection and conversation with families. The title of this discussion will be "RES 101." During this time, I will plan to share with you the accomplishments of the year, thus far, as well as educate families on our "next steps" and common language we use at school each day. I would LOVE to have some feedback on topics you might find helpful. I want to cover as much as possible and know there might be questions and education that might be covered if I know your questions ahead of time. Thank you for your consideration!

Playground Name
Ok, this is a fun one! We are asking YOU, our families, to engage in a fun project...NAME THE NEW PLAYGROUND! As we move towards a new playground, we want to have a name for a variety of reasons, such as planning for a new sign! We have decided it is time for a new name to match the new structures and would love your help!
Please email Michelle Pitts at resoffice@sau50.org with your families final decision and we will announce the name in the spring.

Kindergarten Registration
Rye Elementary School is presently registering Kindergarten and Grade 1 (new students entering RES only) students for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Kindergarten program is a full day program. It is important that all students register so that we can plan classes for next year. We are already in the planning and budgeting process so please register right away.
You can register at:
https://sau50.powerschool.com/public/formbuilder/form.html?formid=2327135.
Once approved, you will receive instructions on how register for Power School and complete
forms online.
Please register early. Details are online at the RES webpage. http://res.sau50.org/
Students chronological age will be age 5 to enter kindergarten or age 6 to enter Grade 1
on or before September 30 of the year the student plans to enter school. There will be Kindergarten Orientation information announced in the spring, as well as details regarding kindergarten screening.

This Week's Highlights
First Grade Rock Band
We love that Mr. Guth takes every opportunity to apply for music grants and attend workshops that help to get amazing and fun instruments into the hands of our students. Before we know it, we will have RES students in our staff band!

Lunch with Students
We do allow one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend.
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time (starting October 1). It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
- We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- Lunch times are:
Kindergarten-11:45-12:10
First Grade-12:15-12:40
Second Grade-12:15-12:40
Third Grade- 11:15-11:40
Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
