PTO News
Happy holidays Longmont Estates Elementary families! As you know, this year the PTO opted out of our traditional Jog-a-Thon fundraiser for the safety of our teachers, staff and students. And while our fall fundraiser was helpful, we ask you to consider making a donation to our organization this winter.
Your LEE PTO would like to continue to fund classroom Paraprofessionals when we return to in-person learning. These amazing folks work with your students in the classrooms and in small group settings, and provide extra support to our teachers in a variety of ways. Every little bit helps.
As you may know, the district is holding a myOn reading challenge over winter break. Longmont Estates PTO would like to join in the fun by asking you to donate $20 per student as a pledge for their participation in the reading challenge. With this simple donation, you can support our school and encourage your reader all at once!
Please click here and donate what you can.
Thank you, and have a wonderful holiday season!
Health Office News
To ensure the safety of our students, teachers, staff, and school communities, it is important that families continue to let the school know about Covid-related illness and positive tests.
Mrs. Shaffer’s STEM Update
Hello! I wanted to give you a quick update before our break. In 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, we’ve been working on coding with Bitsbox and Code.org. If students need a refresher about what lessons we’ve been working on, I will leave the information in Seesaw and Schoology during the break. For our K-2 students, I’ve put my virtual classroom in Seesaw with links to lots of activities. Many students have asked if these are “must do’s.” They are not, but I always encourage them to try at least one of the activities. Here is a fun family activity board you can do during Winter Break---Winter Break STEM Menu. If you try some out, please share with me at shaffer_jessicca@svvsd.org.
You may have noticed information about Camp Invention in the newsletter as well. We will be bringing this program back to Longmont Estates June 7th-11th, 2021. Hopefully we’ll be able to gather in person, but there will be a virtual option if that isn’t possible. Check out the link for more information.
Finally, I have some more SuperStar Coders to recognize: Andi E., Kody W., Javier G., Luna E., Ella T.K., Zane W., and Solomon F. have all rocked their coding this month and went above and beyond their lessons. Nice job everyone!
Wishing you a great month and a relaxing holiday season!
Mrs. Shaffer
