RHHS Wildcats: News You Can Use

Herff Jones will be here at RHHS on Thursday, August 15, to work with Juniors who want to purchase a class ring. Representatives will be here during all lunches and from 3pm-7pm that evening to meet with students and parents at their convenience.

Information about class rings was shared with students in junior advisements yesterday (Thursday).

Please help spread the word that we all need to be mindful of the crosswalk on Harris Trail. The crosswalk is staffed with a crossing guard on school days in the mornings and in the afternoons during dismissal. However, the crosswalk is used by many late in the afternoons (after practices and club meetings) and even on weekends (often RHHS has weekend activities).

Please use caution each time you drive by the high school and consider reducing your speed. Remember, there are four lanes that must be crossed by the pedestrian, and yielding to a pedestrian in the crosswalk (any hour, any day) is the expectation.

Please kindly share this reminder with your driving-age children.

Please help us make student check-outs efficient and effective for you by sending a note with your child if there is a day that he/she will need to check-out for an appointment or leave early.

When you send a note with your child, he/she should bring it to the attendance office at the beginning of the school day. We will call you to verify the note. Once verified, we prepare a pass for your child so he/she can leave his/her class at the appropriate time. The student then reports to the attendance office, signs out, and he/she is cleared to leave campus.

This should allow parents/guardians to avoid standing in a line at the front office and waiting for the child to make his/her way to the front office.

School pictures will be taken the morning of Tuesday, August 27th. Information about school pictures was handed out during advisement yesterday (Thursday).

WBL and Dual Enrollment students who may not have a class on campus on that Tuesday morning are asked to come and have their picture made from 7am-7:30am on picture day.

RHHS is excited to implement The 7 Mindsets curriculum in advisement. All faculty members participated in a training before school started, and I believe everyone would tell you our training was outstanding. All grade-levels will have the same lessons this year since this is our first year using the resource.

All advisors should have distributed a listing of the RHHS Clubs during Advisement this week. If your child didn't get this, you can reference the document below. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or one of our assistant principals.

AP Exam registration is earlier this year for students in first semester or year-long AP classes. Once again, for the 2020 AP exams, students at Richmond Hill High School will be registering online. This registration will only take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access. Once students complete their registration on Total Registration, they should proceed to myap.collegeboard.org to log into their AP Online Classroom where they will find lots of resources their teachers are using to enhance the learning experience.

This year each AP exam costs $100.00. The state of Georgia will pay for one STEM exam per student or one exam for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. If you have any questions about financial assistance, please contact Mrs. Tanner, mtanner@bryan.k12.ga.us, to learn more.

Online Exam registration will begin on Thu, Aug 1, 2019 at 8:00 AM and end on Fri, Feb 28, 2020 at 11:01 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/112525. To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end and joined the AP classroom on the College Board site. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.

Richmond Hill High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment. However, you may mail in a check to Total Registration if you prefer.

Here are the important dates for the registration process:

• Thu, Aug 1, 2019 at 8:00 AM - Registration Begins
• Fri, Nov 15, 2019 at 6:00 AM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $40 late fee per exam for courses beginning in first semester.
• Fri, Feb 28, 2020 at 11:01 PM – All Registration Ends
• Mon, Mar 2, 2020 at 11:01 PM - Registrations that have not been paid for will be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.
• Fri, Nov 8, 2019 - Last day to cancel an exam and receive a full refund for courses beginning in first semester.
• Fri, Feb 28, 2020 - Last day to cancel an exam with a cancellation fee of $40.00.

Wildcat Pride recognizes and celebrates students each semester for meeting expectations for academics, behavior and attendance. Our Wildcat Pride program has been a huge success!

This year, we are hoping to bring some new elements to our Wildcat Pride program. Mr. Matthew Landolt, one of our Assistant Principals, will be working with a committee to continue the excellence. We would LOVE to have parents participate on this committee so we have your perspective and input.

Parents/Guardians - we need your help in making sure students are dressed appropriately for school. As a reminder, our district guidelines do not allow for shorts/dresses/skirts that are too short (when arms are held at side, relaxed, garmet may not be shorter than fingertips), half shirts, shirts without straps, or jeans with rips above the fingertip length.

Each senior is fully responsible for making his/her appointment for his/her senior pictures. There are still appointments available. If you are a rising senior and have not yet made your appointment, please do this today!

Bryan County schools will be partnering with our local health departments again this school year to offer free flu vaccinations to students. If you are interested in your child receiving the vaccination, please click on the links below and read ALL documents.

Please fill out and sign the consent form ASAP. The consent form must be returned by Sep 9th. If permission forms are not returned or are incomplete, then the student will not receive the flu vaccination. Please note, the flu vaccine is only available in an injectable (shot) form in Bryan County Schools.
