Thanks for a wonderful and successful book fair!
Our fall 2015 book fair has come to an end. All of your support has led to a very successful year. Your sales have helped us add books to our school library. Thank you for helping us build our collection and add new materials for students. The BOGO book fair will be back in the spring. A special thank you to book fair chairperson, Jen Hogeland, and the PTO for all of their help and support throughout the book fair.
Students participate in 2015 Global Read Aloud
We had an amazing time participating in this year's Global Read Aloud Project. A group of 7th grade students met with Mrs. Young and Mrs. Rohan weekly during the course of the six-week project to read Fish collaboratively with students from around the world. During our time together we used Facetime and Google Hangout to chat with students from Everett, Ontario, Canada and Merton, WI. We also used the tool Voxer to connect with students in Arizona. One of our highlights was talking with the author L.S. Matthews herself through Twitter. This project was organized and created by 7th grade Oregon, WI teacher Pernille Ripp. To learn more about our participation and see photos of students in action, read Mrs. Young's blog What's Up in Your LMC.

Teen Read Week Encourages Students to "Get Away @Your Library"
In October we celebrated Teen Read Week by planning several activities. Among them was a book "blind date," an "unmask the staff mystery readers" guessing contest, and a chance for students to submit book reviews to win prizes. Thanks to all of our students for participating in our events and supporting literacy.
New additions to library Makerspace
Our Makerspace has grown! In addition to the Raspberry Pis, Makey Makey, Legos, and Little Bits that were available at the beginning of the year, we have also received an iMac, laptop, and iPad. Currently Mr. Gauthier is running workshops, with a new theme each week, to teach students about the different components of our Makerspace. Our goal is to teach students how to use the different Makerspace tools so that they are able to have enough background knowledge to create new projects on their own once the Makerspace is fully open to students. Stop in the library to see our new tools.
