Book Fair Information
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school. The Book Fair will take place December 2 – 8 at the Intermediate Library.
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Counseling with Ms. Katnik
We covered a variety of important topics in Counseling this month! We talked about the importance of personal safety, which included a discussion about making safe and smart choices when around strangers or people we don't know and a discussion about keeping ourselves and our bodies safe and telling a trusted adult if we feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Students also had the opportunity to talk about the importance of teamwork and practice this skill of working together with others. In addition, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week where we talked about making healthy / safe choices and saying no to drugs and alcohol. Throughout this month, we had the opportunity to review and practice the following mindfulness techniques in Counseling: Fall Leaf Breathing, Deep Breathing Pumpkin, Figure Eight Breathing, and Mindful Coloring. You can expand on what we have discussed in Counseling at home by having a conversation with your child about any of the topics we covered and asking them to demonstrate and/or share with you how to do some of the mindfulness techniques we did together in class!
A new update is that we now have a counseling referral form for parents to fill out! If a parent would like for their child or another child to be seen by the counselor, they can fill out this form letting the counselor know this. In filling out this form, we ask for you to provide your name, the name of the student, what grade they are in, and your relationship to this student. We also ask for a brief description of the reason as to why you would like the counselor to meet with the student as well as when the student will need to see the counselor. As always, parents are welcome to reach out to the counselor via phone or email with any concerns they might have regarding students. This form is mainly another way in which parents can voice their concerns and make a request for the counselor to meet with students. If you have any further questions regarding this form, feel free to reach out to the counselor!
