Constitution Day - 9/17
A Message from the Parent Resouce Center
Happy Fall! Even though the temperatures don't feel like fall, I believe it's coming and looking forward to those first cooler days! I have purposefully waited to send this note out, trying to give parents and students a chance to get their feet on the ground, before offering "one" more opportunity.
The Parent Resource Center is a comfortable place to come for resources to help parents become more engaged in the education of their children. You are invited and always welcome to schedule a visit to check out materials, storytime for our virtual learners, and other opportunities to help you become more involved in the education and development of your child/children. Due to CV19, we not only have new office hours, but encourage you to email me to schedule a visit. New hours are:
Monday 1-6:00 pm
Tuesday 11-4:00 pm
Thursday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Friday's as needed
What is Parent Involvement? Parent/family involvement is the participation of parents and/or families in every facet of the education and development of children from birth to adulthood, recognizing that parents are the primary influence in their children's lives. Effective parent involvement takes many forms including communication, parenting, student learning, volunteering, school decision making, advocacy and collaborating with the community.
Even though our role during this CV19 year will look differently, our mission remains the same. We have set up Google Classrooms for you to join, if interested in any of the programs we offer here at the Parent Resource Center. I am still learning this new avenue of virtual teaching, but am firmly committed to bringing you the same great lessons and service opportunities you have come to expect!
Our Google Classroom "assignments" will include Character Lessons, Cooking Classes/lessons, Community Service Projects, and Challenges for you and your children to Grow! Presently, there are minimal "assignments" but, beginning next week, more will be added for you to browse through! We welcome you to add pictures of you and your children participating in the classroom assignments. Even though our BROS and DIVA Dawgs won't be able to meet, until permission is granted, we can still be in the business of doing good, and spreading our message of community service.
Here are the Links you need to join a Google Classroom:
Bulldog BROS - c7zzcz6
Bulldog BROS is a program for our 3rd - 6th grade boys to receive educational programs and take part in community projects and take part in state wide philanthropic opportunities.
BROS stands for BRAVE, RESPECTFUL, OPTIMISTIC and STRONG MINDED. We will upload lessons, messages from our mentors, and leaders; 7th - 12th grade young men are invited to participate as student mentors.
Dynamic DIVA Dawgs - jbhfplj
The Dynamic DIVA Dawgs program empowers 3rd-6th grade young ladies with Courage, Confidence, and Character through Community Service. This is our 6th year for this program and it has gained strength and momentum through the years. These young ladies are eager to serve with a smile. DIVA Stands for DEVOTED, INSPIRED, VIRTUOUS, and AUTHENTIC.
Family Book Club - 4kcz5tu
We all know the benefits of reading for our children's educational success. There are so many statistics to support reading with your children. If you enjoy reading books as a family, or would like to give it a try, please join us as we restart the Family Book Club. Let us know if we can answer any questions or assist you with this classroom assignment. And, feel free to add a book suggestion!
Parent University 101 - 0zdpd7s
This will be a format to offer resources and information for parents who are struggling with situations at home dealing with bullying, discipline, cell phone abuse, and so much more.
We will offer support and offer some question and answer exchanges for issues you wish to see addressed.

As our Administration has been saying since last spring, we are building the plane as we are flying it! I am an "old dog, learning new tricks" and have joked that I feel like my plane has crashed.
A friend reminded me: "Every landing is a crash landing. A good one is the one you walk away from. And a GREAT one means they can use the plane again."
So, if you will "fly" with me, we will figure this out together!
