Levelland ISD's
September 25th, 2023
Hello Levelland Lobos. There are so many great examples of Expect Excellence below. Thank you for all that you do.
Have you ever been asked what the secret to happiness is? I am sure there are many answers to this question and each of you might have a different thought on this. I personally think the secret to happiness is liking what you do on a daily basis. At Levelland ISD, we get to work with so many great students. We do this daily and this makes us incredibly lucky.
I hope you have a great week.
Go Lobos.

Expect Excellence
Around LISD......
IT Professionals Day
LISD #expectsexcellence and finds it in our Technology Department! We celebratd National IT Professionals Day and we honored our geeks that we all rely on to keep us connected and successful. These IT (information technology) professionals are our unsung heroes and are not under-appreciated. Whether it be desktops, laptops, mobile devices, Chromebooks, applications, servers, clever-touch boards, networks, telephones, databases or cyber-security, these people keep LISD humming. We understand the important role they play and the difficulties and complexities associated with modern IT. We appreciate each and every one of you and the job you do!
Lobos on Air
These Lobos on Air episodes will be presented weekly by students in Mr. Lawson's Career Prep Class. These students are learning so much and this is so exciting. These episodes are played in the LHS Commons each week on the vivi TVs for all to view. This is only one of their projects! Great job Mr Lawson!
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month!
Did you know it is Hispanic Heritage Month? Capitol students are fully engaged in learning all about the Hispanic Culture. Students Ms. Draper's music classes were caught listening to Mariachi and dancing the La Raspa!

GOAT
Who is the Greatest Of All Time? Our ABC kids, of course. Our Littles in Mrs. Lucy Voller's class took a field trip to learn about goats! The goats were on Lacey Doster's farm. She is a diagnostician for SPECO. Thank you, Mrs. Voller & Doster for teaching our kids about these "kids," about their habitats, about what they like to eat, and about a few more mammals on the farm. We know that this lesson will stick!
DOT Day!
Capitol students enjoyed celebrating DOT Day today! Capitol Counselor Barbara Utley hosted the event after students learned about having self-esteem, perseverance, and creativity after engaging in the book The Dot by Peter H Reynolds. The child in this story is convinced she can't draw, but her teacher gently encourages her to begin with a single dot, and her creativity takes off. Mrs. Utley taught that even though something might be hard, the first step is "trying" and she helped students understand that it is ok to "fail." Students enjoyed the book, creating dots, and dressing in dots! Thank you, Mrs. Utley, for boosting courage!
Writing!
Mrs. Tammy Branch & Mrs. Latova Ewings' ABC first-graders were caught writing already! These students learned about compassion for others and then designed and wrote get-well cards for a man who suffered a stroke earlier this month. They learned a better understanding of the perspective of others while having the opportunity to practice compassion in daily life toward the elderly. They loved writing the cards, asked tons of questions, and most importantly, learned what it is to be compassionate and to brighten someone else's day. We bet they want to do this again!
South Family Night
South hosted a great Family Night Event last night! It was fun for students to show "all the other things" they learn at school! We're so happy so many parents & students made it out to learn about South special classes! It was hard to squeeze all that learning into one hour!
YELL Officers
The Levelland Chamber hosted the first Young Emerging Leaders of Levelland meeting yesterday at LHS. YELL members meet throughout the year to learn to become leaders in the community. They #ExpectExcellence & enjoy different guest speakers to learn to manage their life skills better, manage money, apply for scholarships, attend college, and even buy a car. Our YELL members have one Duck Pluck fundraiser in the spring that raises scholarship money! Congratulations to these kids for representing LHS & YELL!
Safety for Students
LISD is so lucky to have the best Resource Officers. Our guys #ExpectExcellence & genuinely care about our kids! Our Police Officers visited South & Capitol to visit about safety issues & courtesy habits at school & at home! We appreciate the work our Resource Officers put in daily to make school a safe place to learn! Thanks guys!
Entrepreneur Class Opens Pop Up Store
LHS students in Mr. Hill's Entrepreneur Class are opening their Class Project, LOS LOBO tomorrow with a soft launch! Entrepreneur students have been planning this pop-up store for LHS students to purchase items of interest. These students have been getting this wheel in motion since the beginning of school. They have made their own presentation on ideas to pursue. They have been planning their marketing, budget, purchasing, brainstorming, and deciding on PR, media, branding, etc. This class was treated to a special guest speaker, with KLVT Radio Host Michael Wiiest presenting yesterday! He taught them to diversify to determine what their audience wants to purchase. Mr. Wiiest told them to be consistent, reliable, & to #ExpectExcellence. He asked these students to think about how they accept payment. Mr. Wiiest plans on helping out this class by giving them some "air time." Thank you Mr. Wiiest for your expert advice and help! On Tuesday they will open before school and after school to start selling items. They will be selling drinks, snacks, pep-rally spirit items & LHS Gear. You probably need one of these Levelland Lobo Hard hats for the pep rally on September 29th!
SPORTS

Cheer Coach Northcutt shares that our LHS Football, Cheer, and Volleyball Big Lobos hosted their Little Lobos for a popsicle party Thursday night!
