Happy Father's Day! Thank you to each person who prepared, cooked, and cleaned up - the breakfast was delicious! Men, enjoy your socks, & remember that what you do for your children matters. You set an important example of work/life balance, of how to react to life's issues, and of devotion to God. Also, it was mentioned yesterday that you do not have to be a biological father to be a spiritual father. The Bible gives plenty of examples of this - Elijah, Paul, even Jesus. Be an example to everyone, in word and in deeds!

This month, we are bringing jump ropes to add to the shoeboxes. If you have yet to contribute to the boxes, please consider buying a jump rope, bringing a shoebox, or paying for the cost to ship a box. Thanks a bunch!

Pennies for Pineapples

The need is great in Hawaii! It is considered a mission state because there are so few churches. Please contribute to the Church of God in that state by adding some pennies (or dollars!) to the pineapple in the church. Our fundraising efforts will end in a Luau for the July First Sunday Meal.

Biney & Family

Join us on Saturday, July 8th at 6pm to hear Biney English and family sing! If you have never heard them, this will be a treat. A dinner for a suggested donation of $5 will take place after the singing. Invite people to come with you!

Lessons from a Caldera

A caldera is the depression formed by the collapse of a volcano. We saw a few while at the Volcanoes National Park. I found a neat list of lessons that can be taken from a caldera that I wanted to share with you.


1. Rise to the Occasion

2. Be Spectacular

3. Vent When You Need To

4. Make a Big Impression

5. Have Deep Reservoirs

6. Get Fired Up

7. Show Them What You're Made Of


When a volcano erupts, a few things can happen. The air can become toxic and people who live nearby must evacuate to be safe. It can carve a burning, destructive path.


Or, it can forge a new path - creating space and a new landscape. It can rid the old, making space for the new. It can be an example of God's creativity and genius!


In our lives, we have the choice - erupt and destroy, or pour out and make new. The same caldera can do both, just as we can do both. The next time you find yourself in a situation in which you feel like you might erupt with anger, frustration, or hurtful words, pause. Remember that Jesus said, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Whatever is inside will erupt through your words and actions. Have reservoirs of the goodness of God! Be made up of the fruit of the Spirit.
