Accessing EBSCO EDS (LHS databases)
Log into your SSO Portal
Then open your LMS Library Resources folder.
Select EBSCO EDS - LHS
Once open, click on "allow access" and the introductory slides, to access the search box.

There is now only ONE search box, and it will search and pull results from ALL of our LHS databases.
EBSCO EDS Tools (i.e. filters, citations, project folders)
Use FILTERS to narrow your search.
- Enter your search term(s), then click on "All Filters" to see your possibilities.
- ALWAYS select ONLINE FULL TEXT!!!
Filters include....
date range
subject
publication
publisher
language
geography
source type
content provider
When starting a new research project, ALWAYS look at your subject filter
Click on +xx more under filters to see the complete list of options.

Found in the upper right-hand corner.
Citation Tool (Quotation marks)
Click here to find your source citation---be sure to change it to MLA, or whichever research rule book you're using.
Project Folder (folder with a + sign)
Add information you want to use to specific folders that you create and control. You can create different folders for all of your different projects, and never lose a helpful article again.
CREATING an EBSCO EDS account
First time, CREATE an account!!!
- Click on Overview under My Dashboard, and it will open up the create or log-into your account page.
- Select Create an Account.
Use your lisdtx.org e-mail address!!!
- And be sure to use a password you'll remember.
- CAVEAT--NEW accounts sometimes have lagging log-in times, so you may get an error message. Just wait a couple of minutes, and try again to log in. If that doesn't work, clear your browsing history:-))))
Log into your folder any time during your search.
- If you forget, no worries, you'll be prompted to log in first time you try to add a result to your project folder.
- Must be logged into your personal EBSCO account to view proejcts.

Returning users will just sign in.
First time user must "sign up."
Click on sign up, and create an account with your LISD e-mail address (smithjoh001@lisdtx.org). I would use the same password you use for everything else so you don't forget it.
Once you log into your EBSCO folder account...
you will be prompted to select a folder, or create a new one, for your current article. Once you create your folders, your list will show up automatically (see below).
WHY create an account? For PROJECT FOLDERS!!!

- Save any articles you may need to revisit
- Easy to edit, add, delete, share, etc.
- CITE from titles!!!--Just click on your three dots to access citation tool--couldn't be easier!!!

Clicking on this will open up a concept map for your current search term.
Discover Deep Knowledge
Broader topics will often propogate suggestions for narrowing your search.

From here, you can click on any subject icon, and it will provide a new concept map for that subject. This is a great tool to help you narrow your search term results.

Click here to see descriptions and links to resources that students and staff may want to search, i.e. Cameron's Collection, GALE Opposing Viewpoints, Classroom VOD, NewsBank, Chilton, Learning Express, Ferguson's Careers, etc.

OWL- Purdue under Additional Links
This is alink with take you straight to Purdue University's online writing lab, which provides the information you will need to successfully put together a research paper using MLA or APA guidelines. It covers everything from how to cite sources, avoid plagiarism, and format your papers.
Select Use Premium
Ignore the green Start buttons!!!
Either upload or copy and paste writing to submit for analysis.
Be sure to select grade level, type of paper, detect plagiarism, and check the "agree to terms of services" box. Again, IGNORE the green start box, and click on "Get Report."
Open your report to see what needs corrected.
