ID Cards - Important
We really need parents help in reminding students to place their ID into their backpacks at the end of the day. Students are expected to wear their IDs during the school day (except for PE).
We have already seen some very positive results from having students with their IDs on campus:
1. Lunch lines move so much faster
2. We are learning the names of our students much faster
3. The ASB window lines are moving faster
4. It is preparing them for when they go to high school and will also need to show their ID every day
5. Many jobs require employees to have their ID worn each day. This is building great habits that will transfer over into the workplace.
Students who forget their ID at home are issued a temporary red ID that must be returned to the office at the end of the day or they are placed in lunch detention.
Starting next Monday, students will be given one free pass to use their back up ID. After that, they will be assigned to our PAWS Area (a timeout area on campus) for lunch. We will reset this each quarter.
If they need a replacement ID, please have them bring $5 to ASB office in the main office and one can be reprinted. If there are special circumstances, please have your child see their counselor or an administrator and we can assist with getting a replacement.
Students may purchase a new ID card in the main office for $5 if theirs has been misplaced.

Behavior on the Way Home from School
Please remember that students should use cross walks to cross the street.
Students riding bikes or scooters are required to wear helmets. Please note that skateboards are not permitted on school grounds.
Community Safety Dialogues
In our continuing effort to keep our students safe, the Hart District has initiated a process to reinforce our threat assessment policies and procedures. This plan involves a partnership with a panel of safety experts whose knowledge and expertise will help guide our decision-making.
The Safety and Threat Assessment Expert Panel is made up of three individuals whose outstanding credentials in the area of school safety and threat assessment are attached to this communication. We have scheduled two opportunities for the panel to meet with community members interested in hearing about what research and experts tell us about best practices in the area of school safety and threat assessment. The meetings will also afford an opportunity for community members to share ideas and questions in small group settings.
Our Community Safety Dialogues will be held at the Santa Clarita Activities Center from 5-7 pm on February 24 and March 3, 2020. Both meetings will cover the same material.
If you are interested in attending one of these meetings (or if you have an idea or question you would like the panel to consider), we ask that you fill out this brief RSVP form at the link provided below. Doing so will enable us to plan for productive meetings.

LOBOS GIVE WATER! JOIN DFY in SCV WITH THIS HUMANITARIAN EFFORT!
Fact:
Every 21 seconds a child dies of water-related disease
Over 600 million people lack access to safe, clean drinking water.
The Problem:
The average distance that the people from the village of Eswatini (Africa)walks to fetch water is 3.75 miles.
This task fall on the women and children who have to fill a 5-gallon jerrycan with water which weighs 44 pounds.
As a result, women are often unable to get jobs and children are often unable to go to school or get an education due to the thousands of hours they have to spend annually just hauling water.
How You Could Help:
The DFY (Drug Free Youth) in SCV is partnering up with theThirst Project in collecting donations to go towards helping to build a well for the village of Eswatini so they may have access to a close proximity, clean and disease-free water source.
