News from the Nurse
Our campus is beginning to see signs of sickness. With that being said, please do not send your student to school if they have a fever. Doing so, puts your student as well as other students and faculty at risk. A fever, per our district policy is defined as a temperature of 100 degrees or above. In order to return to school, a student must be fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before they can return. Protect yourself and your loved ones by doing the following:
- Taking a flu shot
- Washing your hands frequently or using hand sanitizer
- Stay home when you are sick
- Covering your cough
Let’s keep flu and other illnesses out of school!!
Athletic Event Student Expectations
It's Track & Soccer Season!
We are excited that track and soccer season has arrived! Please help us reiterate the campus and district game expectations to your student(s) as we continue to support our athletes through the remainder of the athletic season.
- Students must be in the district approved dress code at track meets and soccer games.
- Students should remain in the stands to watch the attending event.
- Students (non-participants) and parents are not allowed to enter the field at any time.
- Once students leave the premises, they are not allowed to return.
- Students’ conduct should promote sportsmanship and reflect Vandeventer in a positive and respectful manner. Conversations should be appropriate and profanity is prohibited.
- Students should not have the following items or similar items with them: football, soccer ball, tennis ball, skate board, scooter, etc. Please leave items such as these in the car or at home.
- Students must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the conclusion of the track meet/soccer game in order to attend future extracurricular events. Students should not wait until the meet or game is over to contact parents for transportation. Administrators will wait with students until they are picked up to ensure student safety, so please ensure that your student has a ride immediately following the event.
- Students not meeting these expectations may be asked to sit with their parents (if parents are present), or to call their parents to pick them up. Students may also not be allowed to return for future extracurricular events.
Thank you so much for your support of our Vandeventer Viking athletes, families and spectators – we’ll see you at the games! GO VIKINGS!

Carnation Grams for Sale
Student Council will be selling Carnation Grams at lunch for $1.00 February 4th-13th. For $1.00 your student can purchase a carnation flower and write a message to a friend, parent, or teacher. Students should look for STUCO members at lunch and make someone's day by sending them a carnation gram! The Carnation Grams will be delivered at the end of the day on February 13th.
February is American Heart Month. We will also be selling heart bracelets for $1.00 to staff and students at lunch. All proceeds from the bracelets benefit the American Heart Association.
Donating Blood Saves Lives
The Carter BloodCare Bus will be at Vandeventer on Tuesday, February 25th from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Please consider donating as there is a critical shortage of blood in the state at this time. Guardian Gateway
Frisco ISD is making it easier for guardians to find key information about their students through a new portal called the Guardian Gateway. The Guardian Gateway portal was created and designed based on feedback from parents who were looking for an easier and secure way to access information for multiple children within one platform. Be on the lookout for information that will come via email starting January 15 to begin the sign up process. Soon guardians will be able to view multiple children within one HAC account, access STAAR scores and find regular important updates all in one place. We look forward to sharing the Guardian Gateway portal with you and appreciate your patience during the District Wide rollout. Click here to learn more.
