6th & 7th Grade Strings Concert: Oct 20th

The 6th/7th grade Strings concert is this Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 in the BVMS Gym. Students need to arrive in the Gym at 6:40, and cellists need to bring their cello from home. Students can wear all black or a Halloween costume that is school-appropriate and allows them to comfortably play their instrument.

KAG A Friend: Suicide Prevention App

KSDE is assisting the Kansas Attorney General’s office in spreading the word about a new mobile app aimed at suicide prevention. This app is in collaboration with the Jason Foundation.

The app can be downloaded for free from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. It can also be accessed through the youth suicide prevention website www.ag.ks.gov/asKS.

Attached are social media promotional materials that we encourage you to share out on your school platforms. The more we spread the word about the app, the more students will have access to mental health crisis help. Let’s get this on the phone of every kid that needs it.

Girls Basketball Starts Oct 24th

Girls Basketball will begin on Monday, October 24th. You must have a physical on file and completed an rSchool account. If you have done this for the fall then you are good to go for winter basketball.

Sources of Strength is teaming up with PROJECT 10❤️20! We are collecting socks, gloves, and t shirts for Men and Women!

Project 10❤️20 is Johnson County’s only shelter for adults who are experiencing homelessness. We provide transportation to and from the shelter, a hot evening meal, and a grab-and-go breakfast in the morning. We’re a safe place to sleep and to receive care, compassion, and support.

We believe in loving our neighbors. That means helping human beings to live with dignity. No matter their situation, people deserve to have the most basic needs of shelter and food met.

We’re located at 9400 Pflumm, Lenexa, KS 66215, on the south wing of Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church. Hours are from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. from December 1st through March 31st.
