UPCOMING EVENTS
Coming soon- Dismissal Procedure
In our ongoing efforts to enhance your children’s safety, we have decided to begin using the PikMyKid Dismissal Application. Throughout the country, it has been proven to simplify dismissal, reduce traffic congestion, and most importantly, improve overall safety. The unique features of PikMyKid allow you, as parents, to easily change pick-up modes, quickly delegate to an alternate individual for pickup, change to an ‘After School’ program, and even schedule for future pickup mode, pickup individual, and after-school programs. This app allows you to be in full control of your child’s dismissal, and it gives us, the school, complete information regarding dismissal and the ability to acknowledge every change and to instantly check your child’s dismissal status should you have a question. We are very excited about this addition and know you will be too. Check your emails over the next week for additional information, and we will be on our way to a safer, quicker, and more efficient dismissal process. To Learn a little more on your own, please check out the link that will show you a few PikMyKid features.

STUDENT PARKING
There are no available student parking spaces on campus. If your student recently acquired their driver's license and planned to drive to school, they are not permitted to park at the adjacent businesses. The property managers of each privately owned business have contacted us to share that they will tow any unauthorized vehicle. Parking on their property creates liability issues. We do not want to ruin our relationship with our neighbors. Students are permitted to park on the street if there are available parking spaces.
ROAR
Due to an increase in students not being in assigned areas during the ROAR period, we are implementing the following changes immediately.
Students must sign up for Content Support no later than 8:30 the morning of that day’s scheduled content support.
Students will not be permitted to first go to a club and then leave out for content support.
Students will not be permitted to leave content support to attend their clubs.
TECHNOLOGY
Students are not permitted to bring their personal laptops to school.
The use of personal devices (laptops) is a security risk and has already created an issue with our server.
Students will not be allowed to borrow our Chromebook should they leave theirs at home. The only exception is when testing is taking place.
MCAP TESTING: Eighth Grade MISA ( Maryland Integrated Science Assessment)
Administered March 6-9.
All 8th Graders are required to take the assessment.
All students are expected to be present each day for the assessment.
The MISA will be administered from 10:45-12:45

The sooner a paid contract is completed, the sooner the bus company can begin determining routes.
The updated Transportation Contract was made available on 2/21/23 on the school’s website. MYCSP.ORG
Please DO NOT contact the bus company.

Attention 8th-Grade Families - Early College Access Program (ECAP)
Attention eighth-grade parents/guardians:
Chesapeake Science Point and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) have a partnership for the Early College Access Program (ECAP), allowing students to take college courses while in high school. CSP also has a unique partnership where selected students work toward a college Associate Degree throughout high school, earning 60 college credits through AACC classes and AP credits.
Candidates for this very selective program are considered during the spring of students’ eighth-grade year at CSP. Administrators, counselors, and teachers review student data and discuss individual student ability to complete college-level and AP courses.
AACC requires a strict limit of 22 students for this program, making it extremely selective. The selection procedures will begin in February, and parent contact will occur once the review process is completed.
Students and families do not need to request consideration for this program, and all eighth-grade students will be reviewed and considered for the Associate Degree program.
Students not chosen for the selective Associate Degree program are still eligible to take individual AACC courses through the ECAP program. These opportunities are usually possible in students’ junior and senior years.

Rising 7th Graders - Required Immunizations
Parents/guardians of current 6th graders:
This is a friendly reminder that 7th-grade students are required to have the following immunizations before starting the 7th grade:
MCV4 and Tdap
I will need an updated immunization record showing that your child received both immunizations. Please send this to me as soon as you have it.
Thank you,
Ms. Calvert

Candace C.W. Antwine Military Service Award
The Candace C.W. Antwine Military Service Award was established in 2021 to honor the military and civic service of Ms. Antwine, a Navy veteran and former member of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County. Ms. Antwine was a committed and passionate voice for military families and children in need throughout Anne Arundel County. She served the nation in active duty, reserve, and civil servant capacities, and was a member of the Board of Education from 2018 until her death in 2021.
The award is given each May to AACPS students who have made a similar commitment by enlisting to serve in the United States military upon graduation. It assists awardees with initial expenses related to enlisting, including basic training supplies, and aims to remove financial barriers to military service.
Click on the link below for the application. Deadline is March 31st, 2023. Please share with your students and families.
