A MESSAGE FROM MRS. LUNA
Mental health is on the rise across the nation for adults and children. One way we can stop mental health from becoming a much larger issue is by educating ourselves and watching for signs and symptoms. Some common signs and symptoms are:
A sudden drop in grades or interest in school
Aggression towards others
Has suicidal thoughts
Hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors
Major appetite or sleep changes
Often feels sad, worried or fearful
Self-destructive behaviors
Spends an unusual amount of time alone
Tortures or kills animals
Trouble focusing
If you have a concern about your child's mental health, please talk to someone at school who can connect you with a mental health provider. LSH has contracted with Fernbrook Family Center to provide on-site mental health services for K-12 students. To start the process, an LSH staff member must complete and submit a referral form. From there, a Fernbrook staff member will contact the child's family to discuss the services they are able to provide.

Bullying Prohibition Policy
An act of bullying, by either an individual, student or group of students, is expressly prohibited on school premises, on school district property, at school functions or activities, or on school transportation. This policy applies not only to students who directly engage in an act of bullying but also to students who, by their indirect behavior, condone or support another student's act of bullying. This policy also apply to any student whose conduct at any time or in any place constitutes bullying or other prohibited conduct that interferes with or obstructs the mission or operations of the school district or the safety or welfare of the student or other students, or materially and substantially interferes with a student's educational opportunities or performance or ability to participate in school functions or activities or receive school benefits, services or privileges. This policy also applies to an act of cyberbullying regardless of whether such act is committed on or off school district property and/or with or without the use of school district resources.
No teacher, administrator, volunteer, contractor, or other employee of the school district shall permit, condone or tolerate bullying.
A bullying report form and entire Bullying Prohibition Policy 514 can be found on our district's website www.isd2397.org
