Small Group/Individual Counseling Requests
As a part of the counseling program at ADM High School, our school counselors have the opportunity to offer participation in small groups and short-term individual counseling to our students.
Small group counseling is offered to students who could benefit from additional support for personal and social skills, to promote educational success. Small groups provide not only additional social-emotional learning experiences, but they also allow students to gain a sense of belonging among their peers, express themselves, build relationships with their counselors, and engage in games, activities and discussions. Students will be able to meet with a counselor and a small group of their peers for 20-25 minutes, during intervention time, as to not interrupt their academic courses.
Individual counseling is short-term and consists of check-ins, short meetings and discussions on topics of the student's choice, ranging from academics, careers, social-emotional aspects, and more.
If you believe that your student would benefit from additional support from a school counselor this year, please fill out the form linked here. The counseling office will do their best to meet the needs of each student, whether it be individually or in a small group!
Please reach out to your student's counselor if you would like additional information.

FAFSA Updates
10 Updates to FAFSA for Seniors and Families
1. FSA has announced that the release of FAFSA will be delayed until December 2023.
2. EVERYONE who wants to put information into an online FAFSA will need an FSA ID with two-step verification to access the form (including the student and parent/guardian).
3. The Student Aid Index (SAI) formula will no longer be divided by the number in college. Students with multiple siblings in college have the potential to have a much larger SAI with no change in income.
4. The new name for household size is family size and will be determined by the number of exemptions claimed on the federal tax returns.
5. Students will now be able to list up to 20 colleges on the FAFSA.
6. Each person/role on the FAFSA will only be able to see questions related to their role. Parents/guardians cannot see student questions and students cannot see parent/guardian questions.
7. Families with an adjusted gross income of greater than $60,000 (up from $50,000) or those who filed certain schedules will be required to submit assets.
8. The new SAI formula may result in a student receiving a negative SAI down to -1500. This SAI will be assigned to all non-filer families. It will not result in a larger Pell Grant than a zero SAI and colleges will not be permitted to award students more than the cost of attendance.
9. Pell Grant eligibility will continue to be calculated based on the SAI but will also be calculated using Federal Poverty Tables and the family make-up, size, and income.
10. If a student begins the FAFSA, they will be asked to identify the parent(s) or spouse who will be contributing financial information on the form. It will be critical that they enter those person(s) information as it appears in their FSA ID so that it will match and they be able to log-in and access the student’s FAFSA.
A Note from Dr. Patricia Tice for ADM Seniors
Welcome to your 2024 Senior Year! We hope your first few days of your senior year have gone well and that you are settling into your final year of high school. There are a lot of moving parts in your senior year. We know you will navigate them with maturity and aplomb. We are here to help.
Senior Year Counts. Senioritis is a very real thing. Senior year begins feeling very much like Junior year. Except it’s not. Before you know it, the busyness of being a Senior hits. Be prepared and be aware. Avoid costly mistakes. Use good judgement with every decision. Every class, every assignment, every day, every grade COUNTS. By the end of your senior year, you will be submitting a final transcript. Focus. Be determined. The pieces of the final transcript begin now and will continue to the final day of school. Right now, start strong. Suit up, show up and play the game. Persistency. Consistency. Follow-Through. Repeat.
As a DMACC College & Career Transition Counselor, my focus is on the next steps of your high schooler’s journey following high school. We want every senior to follow their individual dreams and goals to a productive, healthy, fulfilling future. It’s time to focus on the Class of 2024.
Whether it is a two-year college, four-year university, military, skilled trades, job shadowing, family business...I’m here to help. Navigating the application process, exploring skilled trades, financial aid, I’m here for you. Let the Blitz Begin: ‘Senior Blitz’, is where I meet one-on-one with each ADM Senior, to explore next steps. I’m going in alphabetical order…be sure to ask your senior if they have seen me. I will be pulling Seniors in from their open block, even if it is early in morning. (Fair warning.) My repertoire is 161 senior students. I want to meet each and every senior. Let’s do this!
Please note: my days at ADM have changed. I will be at ADM High School on Mondays and Wednesdays for the 2023-24 school year.
Thank you for allowing us the privilege of working with your student. This is something we take very seriously, and consider it a real pleasure. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I’d love hear from you.
Here’s to a great school year.
GO Tigers.
With kind regards,
Dr. Patricia Tice
DMACC College & Career Transition Counselor
