We are celebrating Staff Appreciation Week in #PointerNation! We can't say thank you enough to our amazing staff for all they have done, and continue to do, for every student every day. As our mission statement says, "Grounded by our history as one of the oldest publicly supported schools in Wisconsin, MPSD is the heart of a small community that educates and inspires our students for a bright future in a big world."

At Monday night's School Board meeting, the Board accepted the retirement notice of Elaine Schwartz (Pupil Services Administrative Assistant). #PointerNation is grateful for your 29 years touching the lives of our children!

Hip hip hooray! A big congratulations to our #PointerNation Forensics Team for earning the Excellence in Speech Award from the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association - WHSFA, placing us in the top 5% of all schools at the state meet! It has been since 2013 since we have earned this prestigious accolade and are one of only 16 schools in the entire state to be recognized. Way to go!

The Student Book Budget Team has spent the last several months evaluating the elementary library! What sections are great? What are we missing? Do some books need to be replaced? The team interviewed students to ask for their opinions and gathered data. Thanks to a generous grant, excitement is building with deliveries arriving and a trip Thursday to Arcadia Books in Spring Green where each student got to pick out a book for the library!

On Wednesday last week, high schoolers attended the annual Southwest Wisconsin Interactive Financial Literacy Event (SWIFLE) in Fennimore, hosted by twelve area school districts and staffed with area community business leader volunteers. SWIFLE is an interactive hands-on experience for high school students designed to demonstrate the importance of sound money management skills. Students have a great time interacting with, and learning from, professionals with expertise in the field. Thank you to all of our volunteers for making SWIFLE a great experience for our students!

Great job by a sampling of our talented middle and high school Solo & Ensemble students that were able to participate in Tuesday's recital! We look forward to sharing all the results from State!

Thanks to our 5th graders for helping to do some spring cleaning at Shake Rag Alley last week!

Our high school band had a fun time attending the University of Wisconsin Varsity Band Concert recently!

A heartfelt congratulations to Senior Lexi Kinch who completed chemotherapy Monday for Hodgkin Lymphoma! The support from #PointerNation, as well as surrounding schools and communities, has been amazing.

Hello Pointer Elementary Families -- The newly formed Family Education Partnership is coordinating a Staff Appreciation Week as an opportunity for families to show appreciation to our elementary staff May 2-6.

Please see the graphic attached for a suggested fun theme each day.

The ideas are all optional. If you would like to show your appreciation to staff in different ways, please feel free to do so.

#PointerNation is excited to be offering free summer school to keep students engaged! Our program is open to all students who are residents of the Mineral Point Unified School District.
