Principal's Updates

Hello everyone! It's hard to believe that the end of the year is in sight! It has been a very busy few weeks for us here in PJP.

The classes are enjoying trips and tours but as usual its a busy time for us in the office making sure that we have everything finished before the end of the year. We are working on making six new fifth classes, advertising for new teachers and preparing for the Graduation ceremony of our class of 2022.

Our school reports issued last week but if you have any difficulty in accessing them through Aladdin don't hesitate to contact Ashleen in the office on info@pjp.ie.

We will issue a final school news later this week as there will be important updates for all families.

6th Class Hike by Elliot Eivers

On Tuesday 14th June all the 6th classes went on a hike in Howth. This was the first ever PJP Hike and some different parents from all of the classes came along to make sure we had plenty of fun! It was a fantastic day! The views were incredible and there were even some kayakers in the water. After our hike we went to Anns ice-cream place then we went to Beshoff bros! Some of the classes nearly missed the dart but thankfully everyone made it back safe and sound! It was a great trip!

PJP Day of Celebration by Grace Doorley

June 16th was the Day of Celebration where we celebrate all the great things that have happened in our school recently - and there has been a lot to celebrate! Both of our GAA teams winning the Fingal League matches and winning the Save the Bee competition. Students got to wear yellow and black, like a bee; or green, like the Green Flag, as PJP was recently awarded its 8th Green Flag, . Bella the Bee actually raised the flag and the Green Team were onsite with Ms. Creavin to cheer her on! We were also awarded our FIRST EVER Amber Flag, all thanks to the Amber Flag Team. Bella the Bee also visited because we won the Save the Bees competition, and the 2nd classes got to do a waggle dance with her. After yard the entire school gathered on the yard and we had a parade with our GAA Teams. We congratulated all of our school teams; soccer, basketball and climbing. We cheered our STEM award and winning the Big Grow competition. It has been a great year for PJP!

GAA Friendship Games by Elia Keating and Isabel Aslett

On Monday 20th June Elia and Isabel from 6th class got to play for Dublin in DCU. When they got there, they to get went straight into the dressing rooms to get changed into their Dublin gear. Then they went straight onto the pitch for the team photo. The atmosphere was electric. They sang the national anthem and walked around the pitch while the pipes were playing. Now it was time for the match to start Elia played half right back and Isabel played half forward. The match passed quickly and by half time Dublin were up by four points. In the end they both played great, and the final score was 2-7 to 0-2. In the end both teams were awarded medals which they had to trade as part of the friendship games. Overall, it was a great experience, and they had a fantastic day and enjoyed a tasty McDonalds afterwards.

Editor's Note: Well done girls we are so proud of you and hope to see you in Dublin Gear again soon

SVP: NEWS REPORT

My days spent working at SVP is a time I will cherish forever.

Working as a 6th class SVP is a job that involves teamwork and hardwork such as, packing up food bags, writing out vouchers and information so that those in need have something to eat! After the process in school on Thursday Ms Markey delivers our food bags and vouchers to those in need.

So far this has been a fantastic and memorable experience and we hope that we can help out more in the future!

New Team Gear

We are in the process of looking at new gear for our different teams. We would be keen to hear from any parent / company who might be interested in sponsoring new GAA Gear for both our boys and girls teams.

We would also be keen to update our other Sports Gear - please don't hesitate to contact Ashleen if you would like to be involved!

4th and 5th Class Cricket

Last week all of our fourth and fifth classes took part in some cricket on Sonesta Green. Each class had a session with visiting coaches Claire and Jordan from Australia. They learned a little about the rules, took part in some skills and drills and even played a few games. Well done to all involved!
