Update on Climber Replacement and Fundraising Efforts
Dear Braemar families,
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the web climber on our school grounds and the ongoing efforts to address its replacement.
Some background on the climber. Our climber is 23 years old. With it's high use, it is approaching the end of its serviceable life. I acknowledge the considerable expense involved in procuring new play equipment. However, attempting to design an equivalent structure, overseeing fabrication and installation, and ensuring compliance with CSA standards pose significant challenges, including liability and risk.
Fundraising efforts play a key role in making the best choice for our children's recreational spaces. To date we have raised approximately $13,000. We have applied for a community grant that would cover a portion of the remaining funds required, and hope to hear in the coming weeks if it has been awarded to Braemar. The Braemar PAC is currently reaching out to local businesses that may be able to financially contribute to the web’s replacement. If you know of a business that may want to donate, please have them contact our PAC directly at braemarpac@gmail.com.
If you wish to contribute personally, please click on the following link to be directed to our donation page: https://sd44.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/299/69/false/true?fundDestination=BRAEMAR%20-%20PAC
Every donation, regardless of the amount, is greatly appreciated, and we will provide tax receipts for your contributions. Your support will not only preserve a vital part of our community but also provide our children with opportunities for safe physical play that enhances upper body strength, improves coordination and motor planning skills, and fosters creative and social learning through movement.
For those of you that have already donated, we greatly appreciate your contribution to making the web replacement a reality.
Thank you for your understanding and commitment to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our students.
Warm regards,
Spencer Kelly
