Gator Greetings
This week, we enjoyed the 6th annual world-wide Kahoot Cup with Mr. Auslander and a wonderful choir performance from the Allisonville Voices last night with Ms. Krupa. Mrs. Weiger is also gearing up for the Book Fair which will be held in the Media Center when we return from break. At Allisonville, we are so very fortunate to have amazing Specials teachers who provide rich experiences with the arts, STEM, literacy, movement and more.
Thanks to all families who have supported Gator Giving the last 2-weeks and also to students who bought Turkey-grams to support 5th grade and show thanks to their friends. Next month, the Student Ambassadors will be having a Month of Giving with a hat and mitten collection and a canned food drive. Look for more information about the Month of Giving in December. All donations will go directly to Allisonville families this winter.
When we return from Thanksgiving Break, the Scholastic Book Fair will begin on Wednesday, November 30th though December 7th. The Book Fair will be open to all families at Literacy Night on Thursday, December 1st. Mrs. Weiger is doing a “Fill the Bucket” grade level challenge. All money raised will go directly back to provide books for students at Allisonville from the book fair. Don’t forget to include tax in your payment as well.
We are looking forward to having author and puppeteer, Mellypop, visit Allisonville on Thursday, December 1st to share her puppet show and literacy gifts with all grade levels. Mellypop will be back to work with families to create their own puppet during Family Literacy Night that evening as well. Literacy Night will be held from 6:00-7:30pm with activities throughout the school for families to enjoy together including games, art, poetry, reading, writing, puppet making, and more. We also welcome special guest Tony Styxx, who will share his poetry talents through hip hop and human beatbox. It is going to be a great night – please plan to come to Family Literacy Night to share in the fun!
Families with students in Grade 3 are invited and encouraged to attend an informational presentation for IREAD3 on Thursday, December 1st from 5:30-6:00pm. Students are welcome and pizza will be served while the 3rd grade teachers and our instructional coaching staff share tips for parents about IREAD3, which is a mandatory state assessment that all students must take. At Allisonville, we typically have a high passing rate of 85% or more. All families are invited to attend Family Literacy Night on Thursday, December 1st from 6:00-7:30pm.
We will have a Gator Gathering on Friday, December 2nd for our last Gator Pack celebration of the semester. All students are encouraged to wear their Gator Pack color shirt that Friday.
We do not have school next week in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please enjoy this week away from school to spend time with family and friends. However you celebrate, I want to say at Allisonville, we are thankful for our students, staff, and families that help to make our school a special place.

Our Middle School Honors Application process is open from now until December 16th. A message was sent on Parent Square to all upcoming/current middle school families/caregivers. The link to the Google Form is here, and the paper version is here. This application is for all grade 6-7 students currently not enrolled in Honors classes at the middle school and all incoming 6th grade students.
Placement into these courses will be based on a student application process and achievement and/or aptitude test results that may include grades, NWEA, CogAT, ILEARN, content specific exams, etc. If you are interested in having your child participate in honors courses for the 2023-2024 school year, please follow the process below.
1. Students who are interested in Honors courses will complete the student application. Printed copies of the application are available from their teacher and/or the school’s front office. Paper applications can be turned in to their teacher for elementary students or school front office for middle school students.
2. Content tests will be given next semester to students who apply to be in Honors Math (current elementary students only) and Honors Science (current middle school students only).
3. A committee will evaluate the student applications and all academic data in efforts to conduct an unbiased approach.
