Be the “I” in K_ND
We have two ways of celebrating kids for doing the right thing. Boarding Passes are given to students to let them know that they’re doing what’s expected. Sometimes kids get them for doing things like walking in line the right way or not talking during quiet times. We want kids to know that we notice and appreciate them when they do what they’re supposed to do!
But then there are those times when kids do something awesome, like going out of their way to help someone, or working really hard on a difficult task, or showing compassion. These are moments when their best selves shine through, and they do things that make Fairmount a better place for everyone to be. When that happens, we want to do more than notice what they did… we want to celebrate it and shout it out so that everyone can hear. That’s when we give them an “I”!
These moments are noted and read over the morning announcements. A postcard is sent home, and your student is recognized on our special bulletin board.
Notes from the Music Room
Fourth-grade students will begin a wind instrument unit and learn to play the recorder. New recorders will be issued from the school shortly. It is theirs to use all year and keep forever. Students are welcome to take their instrument home to practice but are expected to have it with them for every music class. This is great preparation for the responsibilities they will have in Band and Orchestra next year.
We are planning a concert to perform the results of our hard work sometime in March 2024 to celebrate “Music in Our Schools Month.” More information will follow.
Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Adam Gross,
