Tuxedo Talk

DECEMBER 2023
Message from the Superintendent
Dear Tuxedo Community,
As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes for the holiday season.
Reflecting upon the first half of the school year, I am very proud of what we have achieved. TUFSD has remained true to our commitment to foster the learning and growth of the whole student. We know that it is not just grades and test scores that indicate a student’s success; social and emotional learning (SEL) is also a crucial component of a well-rounded education. To that end, we have introduced the students to the Yale RULER program by incorporating the use of the Mood Meter in our classrooms.
I am also thrilled about the new administrative cabinet at TUFSD. We have hired some of the best educators and administrators in the industry, who equip us with the opportunity to provide the highest-quality education to our students. With this team of experienced professionals at the helm, we are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic excellence and personal growth.
Finally, I am very excited that our application for participation in the USDA's Community Eligibility Program (CEP) has been approved, which means all students in the Tuxedo UFSD will now receive free breakfast and lunch, as of December 1, 2023. This means that every student will have access to healthy and delicious meals every day, without the worry of cost.
We believe that this initiative will have a great impact on the health and wellbeing of our student body. A nutritious breakfast and lunch can improve concentration, boost energy levels and help maintain a healthy weight. The program will be in effect for the next four years.
As a reminder, schools are closed from December 25, 2023 to January 1, 2024. We will welcome our scholars and staff back to school on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
I look forward to returning in 2024 refreshed and ready to continue to provide our Tuxedo students with the support, instruction and nurturing school environment they need to succeed.
Happy Holidays!

Education Buzz Words
