Living and Learning with Respect
Wednesday 14th August 2019
I do what I do because I love what I do. I love seeing children happy and engaged in their learning. I love seeing parents relaxed and comfortable coming in to school. I love seeing staff excited and passionate about making a difference in our children's lives.
From the Board Chair
Hi everyone
Just a quick update this month. We were lucky enough at our July meeting to have Kim Manukonga (our RTLB) along to take the Board through what “Circle Time” is at Ngaere School. This was a great hands on experience and I know for myself, prompted some excellent conversations with my kids on how it works in class. Our on-going Policy review covered off NAG 6 – Legislation, and we also reviewed our procedures around this policy. We then approved our triannual Board Work Plan, and worked through our normal meeting agenda items.
We have ERO coming next week, and the Board will be involved through this process. This includes meeting with the review panel to talk them through Ngaere’s story when they first arrive, and then meeting with them again at the end of their visit where they will present an overview of their findings. We look forward to bringing their findings back to the school community as soon as we can.
The Board is also meeting with our Kahui Ako, at St Josephs Primary next Tuesday night, where they will take us through an introductory session for new Board members. It will be great to see how our Community of Learning can contribute to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for our children.
Till next time
