There will not be school on Monday, January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. We look forward to welcoming students back to campus on Tuesday, January 16th.

The forecast is predicting several cold days next weeks. Remind your students to wear their jackets. Any changes that occur for next week will be communicated by the district.

Harby Jr High was highlighted on the Alvin ISD social media pages this week for #AllinAllDay! Be sure to follow the Alvin ISD Social Media pages to see the awesome photos they shared. We are excited that everyone got to see how amazing our students are!

Students will begin the process of selecting next year's courses once we return from the winter break. There is an Elective Fair on January 16th at 5:30 that all 6th & 7th grade students are able to attend if they would like to learn more about a particular elective class.

Here are the dates that course selections will begin by grade level. Students will bring their course selection card home to be signed by a parent or guardian.

6th grade - January 24

7th grade - January 26

8th grade - February 9

All 5th grade students zoned to Harby JH will have the opportunity to learn about electives and fine arts offered at HJH. 6th and 7th grade students are welcome to come if they are interested in picking a different elective for next year. Elective Night is January 16, 2024 at 5:30pm-6:30pm at Harby JH.

The Pearland Chamber of Commerce is, once again, sponsoring the National Civics Bee Competition! Use this link to see how your Hawk can participate. Last year's winner was an Alvin ISD student! The deadline to participate is January 22nd.

Our Fine Arts department is excited to begin preparing for our musical production of High School Musical Jr! There will an information meeting on Tuesday, January 9th from 4:20-5:00 in the room. Auditions for the musical will be January 17th from 4:30-6:30. WE wish all our talented Hawks good luck!
