Dear Parent/ Guardian:

The South Carolina Department of Education requires that all students in grades 3-8 take the SCREADY and SCPASS assessments in the content areas of ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies.

We will be administering these assessments to students through the online test administration, unless the student has an accommodation that requires paper and pencil administration per the student’s IEP or 504 Education Plan.

The dates of testing are as follows:

SCREADY ELA Day 1 (Writing)

Tuesday, May 15

SCREADY ELA Day 2 (Reading)

Wednesday, May 16

SCREADY Math

Thursday, May 17

SCPASS Science (6th & 8th Grade)

SCPASS Social Studies (7th Grade)

Friday, May 18

Students need to have enough rest the night before, eat a good breakfast each morning and arrive to school on time. If at all possible, please schedule any medical appointments after testing is over. With the test administration being online it is important for students to bring their charged devices to school each day of testing. Please note that students will not be allowed to have cell phones or any communication devices (to include smart watches and fitbits) on them during testing. In fact, it is preferred that students not bring any electronic devices other than the school issued Chromebooks into the testing room. However, if a student brings a communication device it must be turned off and will be turned in to the test administrator to be stored until after all testing is completed.

Congratulations to Kendall Smith, 8th grade Irmo Middle School student, for winning 1st Place in the state and national competition in the Digital Arts category for middle schools in The National Career Development Association poem/poster contest. The theme was “Creating a Future Full of Possibilities”.

The SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics is very excited to bring back our award winning camp, iTEAMS XTREME Next Generation, to the Midlands! This year, the camp is open to rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Students with transportation from Richland, Lexington, Sumter, Calhoun and surrounding counties may apply. We look forward to our time at Lexington Technology Center June 18-21, 2018 and at Keenan High School June 25-28, 2018, both from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.

Welcome to Irmo High School! The IHS PTSO is currently looking for involved parents to join our board for next school year. We are very active in the school and help provide support to the faculty in many ways. There are several positions available and we would LOVE to have some new excited members.
