Dear Chelmsford Families,

Our district values your feedback! We are currently surveying The Chelmsford Public Schools families in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness. We also want to better understand barriers to families accessing our schools and programs. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.

To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2023 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses anonymous. The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete, and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.

You may complete the survey online between Thursday June 1st and Friday June 16th using a computer, tablet, or smartphone by visiting the website below:

If you have multiple CPS school-aged children, please feel free to fill out multiple surveys to represent each individual child’s experience. The first question on the survey will be a dropdown to select which school you are filling the survey out for.

Thank you to our Byam P.E. teacher Ms. Courtney Quinn, our staff, and our family volunteers for a great two days of field days for Byam! We had hot but fun field days this week. Thank you to Ms. Quinn for her creativity and organization in creating such wonderful events. We were also so fortunate to have so many volunteers to help make these days go so successfully! Students and staff had a great time with great physical activities and challenges, including water sprays and mister machines to beat the heat!

Our fourth grade students enjoyed a tour at Parker Middle School, and received Parker Middle School Tshirts at the end of their tour.

Many of our talented Byam actors performed "Space Pirates" last night to a packed crowd at McCarthy middle school. They were so brave and proud! A big you thank you to Katie Rey and the BSA for their hard work!

Today graduating seniors who attended Byam took part in a graduation walk through ceremony here at Byam. They enjoyed a school-wide congratulatory clap out with their cap and gowns.

We have a collaboration between Chelmsford High School, Byam Elementary and the Special Olympics of Massachusetts to host our first ever Unified Game Day. Our Byam athletes will be traveling to Chelmsford High School to participate with CHS Unified athletes and coaches. The day will include opening and award ceremonies for all who participate.

All medication needs to be picked up from the

Nurse’s Office

on the last day of school, Thursday June 15.

Medication can only be returned to a parent or another responsible adult.

Although it is an early release day, the health office will be open for your convenience from:

8:30am – 11:30am

then again from

1:00-4:30pm

MEDICATION PICK UP WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE

SO PLEASE PLAN TO PICK UP

MEDICATION AT THE ABOVE TIMES

Items not picked up by 4:30pm on Thursday, June 15 will be disposed of per district policy. Please contact Nurse Regan 978-251-5144 x6404 or regana@chelmsford.k12.ma.us by Monday, June 12 if you would like to make other arrangements for pick up.

As a reminder below for a previous district communication, Bus registration is now open. Please complete the online bus registration to support efficient planning of bus routes this summer. Early bird discount for those registering before July 4th. More details below.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

School bus registration for the 2023-24 school year is underway. We need to begin to collect data on riders for the fall so efficient routes may be developed for the start of the school year.

An 'early bird' payment discount is available for registrations completed by July 4, 2023. Information pertaining to school bus transportation may be found on the Chelmsford Public Schools Transportation web page.

Please see the attached flyer and registration directions for more details. It is very important that every student is registered to ride the bus regardless of if there is a fee. Registering now allows the transportation department to begin building routes for optimum efficiency, and if you are required to pay a fee, you save money by registering early.

A few reminders about student transportation:

• All students who desire to ride the school bus to or from school must register every year, even if they are not required to pay a fee.
• All registrations and payments are processed online using MySchoolBucks
• When registering, each student must be entered separately in MySchoolBucks. For families with more than one child riding the bus, a registration must be completed for each child.
• MySchoolBucks will provide assistance for using their online registration system if needed during the registration process. MySchoolBucks may be reached directly at (855) 832-5226.

REGISTRATION PROCESS: You will need to look up each student in MySchoolBucks and add each student to your account. Looking each student up will require name and LASID or birthdate. Each student must be registered separately. For students new to the district, please allow 24 hours prior to registering on MySchoolBucks.

Take me out to the ball game... take me out with the crowd!! It was a beautiful night in Boston on May 31, and lots of Byam families filled the stands to cheer for the Red Sox! Be on the lookout next year for more fun family outings like the UML Riverhawks, Red Sox, and more! One lucky 4th grader, Shane Q, even got to go out on the field and wave on the jumbotron!

We are humbly asking parents to consider volunteering for one small task each year. If your child is attending an event, please keep an eye out for future sign-up forms. Many responsible students can also help with parent supervision! In addition to event volunteers, here are a few larger roles we are looking to fill. We will teach you the ropes and "ease" you in.
