This Valentine's Day, the Nixon PTA is encouraging students to "Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve". In school, each student will be provided with heart shaped post it notes to decorate their classroom, hallway or desk with positive messages and affirmations. Let's spread kindness throughout our school!

Below are four pieces of artwork from our most fabulous Nixon students. These students have been selected to exhibit their work in an art show sponsored by the Art Educators of New Jersey (AENJ). All students have been given parental permission for their work to be put on display for the 2023 County Art Exhibition (date and location to follow later). The artwork will also be displayed on the AENJ website www.aenj.org & also on Artsonia.com - the largest children's art museum on the internet.

Families as Reading Partners is scheduled for Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2:30 pm. For this special day, ONE or TWO members of your family (17 years or older) can join us for this whole school read-in. Please complete the following Google Form to inform us who from your family will be joining us for this event.

All visitors will be asked to sign in through our Lobby Guard System, so please be sure to come prepared with your Driver's License. If you anticipate taking your child(ren) home with you after the event, please be sure to answer respectively below. To ensure that we have accurate dismissal records, you will be asked to also sign out your child in the lobby before leaving. Please keep in mind that this is an event for Nixon School students, younger siblings should NOT attend this event.

For the event, please do NOT park in the driveway of the school, as buses will be arriving at the end of the school day. If your child is in a special during this time, you are asked to meet your child in their special area classroom. You are encouraged to bring books with you to read to and with your child(ren). If you have children in multiple grades, you are asked when it is time that you stop by your oldest child's classroom to pick him/her up and then bring him/her with you to your YOUNGEST child's classroom to read.

As we look to Valentine's Day excitement, I respectfully request that NO food products be included with students valentines. Food products inclusive of items such as lollipops, candy, fruit snacks, etc. This request comes out of concern for the many food allergies that exist in our school. Additionally, there should be NO goody bags sent in for students to distribute to classmates. These requests are in accordance with information presented in the Code of Conduct that families sign off on prior to the school year beginning. Your care and attention to these requests is greatly appreciated by all.

Roxbury Township Public Schools, a K-12 school district preparing the children of today for tomorrow, has set its in-person Kindergarten registration dates for the 2023/2024 school year. Children must be five years old on or before October 1, 2023 to participate. Click here for more information regarding Roxbury's Entrance Age Policy (P5112). Roxbury Township Public Schools offers a full-day kindergarten program designed to develop knowledge and skills in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive areas. Our goal is to help children develop skills and strategies that will help them learn and establish a foundation for lifelong success in education. The program allows more time for students to address curriculum in depth and allows teachers to provide additional activities in learning.

Online registration for Kindergarten is now open. Parents are required to register their child at their home school. If the home school is unknown, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-584-6756 and based on your address, they can let you know what school your child should be attending.
