Principal's Message
It has certainly been a tough year on students with COVID-19 and quarantine procedures. I do want to clarify what those current procedures are, as outlined by the Montgomery County Health Department. These procedures are continually discussed and if at any time the MCHD releases updated quarantine recommendations we will update parents accordingly.
Symptomatic
Students must quarantine when presenting with COVID-19 symptoms. The screening chart of symptoms is at this link. Quarantine period for symptoms is a 10 day quarantine period, however, a negative COVID-19 test will allow students to return sooner once 24 hours free of symptoms.
Close Contact
Students who are identified as close contacts to a confirmed positive COVID-19 case must quarantine for 14 days from date of exposure.
Household
Siblings living in the same household of symptomatic students must quarantine along with the symptomatic student. Siblings living in the same household of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case must also quarantine. Students identified as a close contact that are sent home are the only students who need to quarantine. Siblings of the identified close contact should continue to come to school, unless the identified close contact begins to develop symptoms.
Again, it has certainly been a difficult time in navigating quarantines and we do appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we balance in person school with the health and safety of everyone in the building.

Vaping 101: What Every Parent Needs to Know
How would you know?
Popular vape products look similar to USB drives. Be looking for: unfamiliar packages or online purchases (bought online) and clear, thin, square shaped boxes with or without liquid in them. Be sensitive to odors like bubble gum, chocolate cake, fruit.
Child physical symptoms:
Increased thirst and nose bleeds.
Decrease in caffeine use.
Increase use of vaping slang: “atty”-atomizer, “sauce” “e-juice”, “hit”,
Increased appetite, mood changes, bloodshot eyes, coughing
The truth is: Vaping is dangerous — especially for those under the age of 25 since their brain is still developing. Additionally, quitting vaping may be difficult due to the high amounts of addictive nicotine in the devices. Lung damage is especially dangerous.
Dangers of vaping include:
Asthma
Scaring on lungs
Brain development issues
Seizures
Broken bones
Strokes
Burns
Respiratory illnesses
Bronchitis
Popcorn lung
Heart problems
Nicotine addiction
Parents should have honest conversations with their children about the dangers of vaping and provide resources to help them quit. Your child doesn’t have to be a victim of a vaping injury or illness. Addiction counseling might be helpful.

Calling All Dancers!
Calling All Dancers! Grades Pre-K through 8th Grade: Come dance with us! Our CHS Blue Illusions and former dance alums will teach dancers different dance techniques, learn a routine and have lots of fun over our three days. Dancers will perform their routine during our Parent Showcase scheduled for Thursday 2/09 at 6:40! Dancers come all three days. Masks must be worn at all times and strict social distancing will be practiced.
This is a great way for any current 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade students interested in trying out for the CMS or CHS dance teams in the March to learn about all the skills needed to make the team and sharpen those skills before the tryouts begin at the end of March.
You can email Mrs. Haas thaas@cville.k12.in.us if you have any questions.
