Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
I feel like I say this every week, but it has been another busy week at Canby High School. The alumni choir events were uplifting and amazing. We hosted a College Night for Latino families to get their questions answered. Spring sports had a full week of events including a track meet that finished with some lightning, literally. Through our many offerings, talented students continue to showcase their skills and learn valuable life lessons along the way. I encourage all students to find a way to get involved in a sport, club, or activity.
Our Agriculture students had a full week as they participated in the Oregon Ag Fest at the State Fairgrounds. The Horticulture department hosted their annual plant sale, and FFA students assisted Wilco at their annual potting day event. Our Leadership students represented CHS at the Spring Association of Student Councils Conference. Our Leadership teacher and Activities Director was honored with the OASC Advisor of the Year award, and our Student Council was recognized by the OASC with a silver level award.
Looking forward, there is no school for CHS students tomorrow. Grades should be available in Parent/Student Vue by Tuesday, 5/9. Please join us for Conferences on Wednesday, 5/10. These are being held in person from 4:30-6:00 pm, no appointment needed. Zoom conferences are by appointment from 6:30-8:30. Please see more information below. We look forward to speaking with you at conferences.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-Excused Absence: For any anticipated absence that will be more than three days, students are expected to pick up a Pre-Excused Absence Form from Jessie Munoz at the Attendance Office.
To report an absence, call Jessie Munoz at our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Students have 48 hours to have unexcused absences excused. Students may lose the opportunity to make up work for credit due to unexcused absences. Please report an absence as soon as possible.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
