Soaring Student of the Week!
Students at AES have the opportunity to earn recognition for positive behavior during the week. When staff members see great choices being made, students can receive a SOAR slip with specific praise. Every Friday, the names of every student who earned a SOAR slip are read during the morning opening. All student slips are entered into a drawing, and one student is randomly chosen to receive donuts for his or her class.
This week's Soaring Student was Tristin May from Mrs. Gray's 5th grade class.
Thank you, Daylight Donuts, for partnering with us in this special recognition for our students!
Phoenix Five: Takes Ownership Winners!
Takes ownership:
I take charge of my own learning.
I can set goals for myself.
I can take action steps to meet my goals.
I can work until I’m proud.
Ask your student about the taking ownership in their learning at home and what success criteria they have accomplished.
Questions from the Classroom
Preschool: What sound does the letter Oo make? Can you find the letter Oo when you go out in the community?
Kindergarten: Being a good learner means more than listening to your teacher. Can you name one of the ways to be a good learner? (Take Ownership, Persevere, Reflect, Problem Solve, Embrace Challenges)
1st grade: Have your student name 3 community helpers. Ask them what tools they would need to do their job. (Ex. Fireman needs a hose, coat and mask)
2nd grade: Count by 5s starting at 30 and ending at 130.
3rd grade: How do you ask and answer questions in a non-fiction text? ( Use questions like who, what, when, where and why.)
