News from the Health Office
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the holiday season, we remind you that although NJ does not have a COVID-19 related travel mandate at this time, please check for any updates prior to your trip. Please review the CDC’s guidance around travel recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. This recommendation comes from CDC’s Domestic Travel Guidance.
COVID vaccinations have now been approved for children over the age of 5. Vaccination status will only be verified when determining close contacts quarantine as per CDC and NJDOH guidelines. Quarantine is not required when an individual has been fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the last COVID vaccination is administered).
Flu season is around the corner. Contact your child's pediatrician to advise if you have questions or concerns regarding the flu vaccine. Please keep your children home if they are sick; if you are unsure about whether to send them, please call your school nurse first to discuss. We continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the NJ Department of Health and the Communicable Disease Services regarding illness and school attendance.
Your district nurses are in contact with the Bernards Township Health Department and our School Physician, Dr. Porter, throughout each week. Check out the Bernards Health Department website for the most current information and helpful resources. We have a collaborative relationship to guide us in keeping our community and school safe and healthy.
Thank you for preparing your children for the school day by sending them with refillable water bottles, proper fitting masks, extra masks and hand sanitizer. As always, we are here for your children and your family in health and well-being! We are Thankful for your continued support.
Carol Anne Pagana RN, CSN-NJ & Marisa Austenberg RN, CSN-NJ
A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy Wednesday Mountain View! We had a great short week. Today was an Advisory day, a Thanksgiving themed Advisory. We had a morning Advisory to make room for some fun afternoon activities. Students made “thankful feathers” that were added to a giant turkey in the front hallway. Students were also given the opportunity to write “thankful for you” notes to the faculty and staff at Mountain View which they delivered to ‘mailboxes’ in the cafeteria. I am looking forward to hearing from the students how their Thanksgiving and long weekends were. I hope everyone has a safe and healthy Thanksgiving full of good food, family, and gratitude.
