Akron School District took time to honor all Veterans on Thursday, November 9. The program was put together by Akron FFA and Mrs. Dreitz with the help of FCCLA, FBLA, the band, and elementary students. Mr. Luke Bethel was the speaker, the younger students recited a poem, and the high school choir sang.

Thanks to all who attended and thanks to all veterans for your service!

Akron FFA had a great time at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis last week. The girls and Mrs. Dreitz attended the Lainey Wilson concert, went on a dairy tour, spent some time at the Indianapolis zoo, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and much more!!

Mr. Johnson and his building trades students have been busy building this 8 x 12 building which they are putting up for sale. If you are interested in purchasing the building, please contact Mr. Johnson at the school 970-345-2268.

The Akron Rams football teams season came to an end last Saturday as they took on the Lyons Lions in the first round of playoffs.

Congratulations on a great season players and coaches!!

On Monday, the MS boys basketball teams hosted the Brush Beetdiggers. The A, B and C teams came away with a win. The Rams will play Caliche on Thursday with games starting at 5pm.

Addicyn Kessinger has committed to Black Hills State University to play basketball and further her education. We are so proud of you! Good luck next year as a Yellow Jacket!

Board members Jessica Filla and Nathan Quick were recognized at the school board meeting Wednesday night for their years of service and dedication to the Akron School District. Jessica served 9 years and the past 2 years as board president. Nathan served 4 years and the past 2 years as vice president. Under their leadership and direction, the district has taken several steps to continuously improve that have included yearly reviews, updates to curriculums, adding new programs and positions, school outreach to parents and community, facility improvement projects, increases to salaries, staff appreciations, and much more.

The district enrollment and budget have both trended upwards during their time on the board. Their amazing service and support is appreciated and their leadership on the board will be missed.

The school board had a busy work session this week. The session started with a presentation from Mrs. Britney Weers and Mrs. Ali Houston on the graduate profile and the work that is taking place to help students with their paths toward college and career. The board then heard from students in Yearbook class and the Akron FBLA chapter. The students shared their plans for this year’s yearbook and the projects they are working on and competing in this year.
