Principal Carlisle's Elementary Address
Dear Families,
With the ever changing responses to COVID there are new challenges that we continue to face. With every challenge comes opportunity. Here are some opportunities that have and continue to be brought about.
1. Parent Teacher Conferences at the school building.
2. Music and theatre productions brought in to the school through virtual experiences and important lessons given to students to empower their minds.
3. Science Fair for students to participate in with virtual and in person opportunities.
4. Interaction with friends and other classes.
5. Extra specials added for students.
6. Hope Squad for students to deal with stress and anxiety.
This is a time when hope in education and the opportunities it bring about is vital. With many opportunities that allow students to be mentored and brought up to the door of possibility, it is refreshing to see the excitement of kids playing together, eating lunch, and learning with real intent.
Their full potential as a learner develops more with hope in their future happiness. Hope in education is what takes the idea and creates with it the outcome of the future. In education, the idea is to produce successful and happy students. I have hope that education can continue to reach and change more lives this year, everyday.
With Hope in our students future,
Mr. Carlisle

Wilder Elementary Child Abuse Prevention Week
Dear Families,
Every year April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Here at Wilder School District we are committed to ensure the safety of our students through education and empowerment.
To that end, the week of April 12-15 will be designated as Wilder Elementary Child Abuse Prevention Week. In addition to activities designed to promote hope and empowerment, we will also be presenting age-appropriate classroom lessons on child sexual abuse prevention.
Our school counselor will lead grade specific curriculum for students kinder-5th grade. The entirety of the curriculum can be found at https://fightchildabuse.org/. Each grade has a different curriculum and material to ensure age-appropriate information.
You are welcome to preview the information at the above website.

COVID Protocols Update
Parents and Community:
Spring is underway and I wanted to take a few moments to share some exciting highlights about the district that we are extremely proud of. The Board of Trustees approved to loosen the COVID protocol in order to get the district back to a more “normal” form of operation. Busses now transport more students in each route, thus providing more on campus learning time for students.
The CDC has revised their 6’ distance for students to 3’, and this has provided us the opportunity to create more classroom space for students to get the needed instructional support more often. Next, we opened up our cafeteria for the elementary students to return to the cafeteria to eat lunch, instead of eating in their classrooms. It has been rewarding to see our students seated at the lunch tables having a normal conversation about their day, which has put many smiles back on their faces.
Spring Sports
With spring comes spring sports. There are great participation numbers for all spring sports, which includes baseball, softball, high school and middle school track. Please check out our new website for dates and times of their games and meets and support the students with your attendance when you can. Even if it is just for watching a few innings or running events.
Middle School Students Earning College Credits!
A few years ago the Idaho State Legislature passed legislation allowing middle school students the opportunity to take high school classes for credit. Over the past three years this program has gained the interest of more and more students each year. Currently all 8th grade students are taking up to three high school classes for credit with parent approval. The three courses currently offered to middle school students are Algebra 1, Earth Science and/or Social Studies. If you would please take some time to digest what you just read…. Yes, Wilder School District middle school students are leading the state with the high percentage of middle school students in advanced coursework. Congratulations to the K-12 teacher for engaging and supporting each and every student daily to get them to this point in their education and ownership in learning so they know how to reach for the stars.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dillon

Different Ways to Support
In the past year over 500,000 people have died due to COVID. Chances are you know someone who has either died of COVID or know someone who does.
When someone we care about is struggling with grief we want to help but oftentimes we don't know how. We are worried that we might say or do the wrong thing or maybe you think that there is nothing you can do. These are natural feelings that we all struggle with. But don't let that stop you from reaching out and letting that person know you care. Here are a few suggestions on ways to support family and friends that are dealing with grief:
- Don't underestimate the power of a handwritten letter
- Send a text or email with the message "I'm thinking of you, I'm here for you when you are ready"
- Share music/meme/books
- Deliver groceries
- Call the person and just be ready to listen

The young Wilder Wildcats have outperformed all expectations as they continue to strive for excellence. "This is an amazing group of ball players who work hard, enjoy the game, and display strong moral ethics both on and off the field. It is truly a blessing to have the opportunity to coach these amazing young athletes." say Coach O.
Wilder Varsity Softball
The Varsity Wilder Ladycats have started out their 2021 season with a record of 2-3. They came out strong with their first win of the season vs. Melba JV and scored their next win vs. conference opponent Idaho City.
The Ladycats are lead by seniors Sofia Aguilera and Jolee Lopez who start respectively as pitcher and catcher. Their leadership is guiding the young team of 6 juniors, 2 sophomores, and 6 freshmen who are hoping for a great season.
The Ladycats have a combined batting average for the start of the season of .200 with an on base percentage of .500. When they get on base they know how to run with a total of 49 stolen bases. Sofia and Jolee have combined together to strike out 30 batters while their defense has recorded 4 double plays on the year.
