As many families prepare to celebrate Halloween this week, we wish to remind you that at Grassy Creek, we do NOT dress up in costume. Some classes have themed projects or spirit days planned for Thursday but we will not be celebrating Halloween as a school.

Reminders for projects and spirit days:

The purpose of the Town Hall meetings is to provide our community, including our staff, the opportunity to interact with the district to provide input on the future of Warren Schools for our 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. It is our goal to develop a comprehensive plan that will ensure all students and staff have the conditions necessary to develop and apply the Journey of a Graduate skills and dispositions. The Journey of a Graduate skills are a set of 6 skills and dispositions that have been identified by our community needed for success in and out of school.

Below are the dates and times of the upcoming Town Hall Meetings. I have also included the survey we are providing as another way to collect our community's input. If you have not completed the survey, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Dr. Matchett and the Healthy Smiles team will be visiting Grassy Creek on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. Permission forms were sent home on Tuesday so please return the signed and completed forms as soon as possible. They provide the following care on-site: dental check-ups, dental cleanings, digital x-rays, preventive sealants and fluoride. They accept Medicaid and most private insurances. Free care may be available to qualified students. Once Healthy Smiles has seen your child, a dental health report card will be sent home. Registration forms will be sent home soon.

The Warren Central High School Drama Department is producing Elf: The Musical for fall 2019, and we would like to invite all Warren Township elementary and middle school students to a free kids' showing on Saturday, November 16, at 2:00PM in the main auditorium of the Warren Performing Arts Center. Each child who presents a flier (See below and print and bring it) will receive free admission for him or herself to the Saturday matinee. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Adult tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door.

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. Last week we were fortunate to have Dr. K with us from Apple Education to help us learn new tricks and brave new learning. It was so much fun! Our students and staff experienced creative and engaging lessons as well as came up with new things on their own, too! We look forward to continuing our work with Dr. K. and the Apple Team as we spread our wings in technology.
