Holley-Navarre Primary is a Title I School-What Does This Mean?
HNP is a Title I Assist school this year due to our free/reduced percentage. This identification is a big advantage to our school because we receive additional federal support to help meet the needs of our students that qualify. Title I places an emphasis on targeting students with academic needs and focuses resources where they can most benefit students. Title I also supports parent involvement activities and education. You can help us by completing a free and reduced lunch application at: https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application. This application needs to be completed each school year.
If you would like to view our Annual Title I Parent Meeting Presentation, Parent and Family Engagement Plan or the School Improvement Plan for the 2023-2024 school-year we will have this available on our school website.
The Florida Department of Education has announced the release of the 2021-22 School, District and State Report Cards in the Know Your Schools Portal (http://knowyourschoolsfl.org). These report cards continue to serve as a valuable resource for parents, educators and stakeholders by offering transparency into how Florida’s districts and schools are doing with regard to student achievement and success.
The 2021-22 Florida Report Cards provide the 2021-22 performance data and additional education information and outcomes compared to prior years’ data in easy to understand formats, and a “Map and Compare Schools” tool that allows families to search and compare schools. School accountability data contained within these report cards will be updated, if applicable, following the conclusion of the appeals process. The department will continue to update information in these report cards throughout the year as new data become available.

PE NEWS-Coach Eckert, Coach Coleman, and Coach Jason
Welcome back to HNP Physical Education! We are looking forward to another great year of learning and being active daily. We want to welcome Coach Coleman to the Physical Education Team. As a reminder to the parents, your children have PE every day while at school. Please make sure your students are wearing the proper footwear to PE. The requirements for a proper shoe is that is covers the toes, flat bottomed, goes around the heel, and is secured to the foot. We appreciate you in helping us make sure your students are ready to learn and are safe at Physical Education.
Art News from Mr. Makar
Summer has passed, our batteries are recharged and we’re on our way to another amazing year of HNP art. I am so excited to welcome back my new first and second grade students and I am so pumped up to meet and get to know my new kindergarten artists. Mr. Makar is planning on some spectacular things this year in art with new ideas and creations. It is such a joy to be able to work with these kiddos and introduce so many of them to the world or art and to show them where it can take them. Each month I will be updating our Sandpiper parents and guardians about things that will be happening in my classroom.
For the first rotation of art, my students will be getting acquainted with my art room, they will learn about classroom rules, be assigned a table to work at, learn about what an art festival is and introducing themselves to me.
Next, I would like to tell you how excited I am to be reintroducing the Original Works art fundraiser this fall. If you are familiar with OW you will know that this is an amazing company that will reproduce your child’s artwork onto a variety of things such as coffee cups, garden flags, t-shirts and much more. The fundraiser will begin in the fall and information will be sent home soon about the process and how to order. All artwork for this will be done in my art room. The best part about the OW fundraiser is that items will be delivered and sent home before the holiday break and will make amazing gifts for friends and family.
During the 2023-2024 school year some students will have artwork displayed at three different art festivals in Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, and Milton. This is a great achievement for students to showcase their creations for the first time for an audience of art enthusiasts. If a student’s artwork is chosen, I will send information home to parents and guardians. This is a fantastic opportunity to congratulate and support your little one at these showings and to take those many photos of them proudly standing next to their hard work. We will be working hard to get ready for the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival in early November in downtown Pensacola. Again, information will be coming for those students chosen. Many student’s that have artwork chosen will not get them back until after spring because there are chances that they could be used in other art shows also.
I would like to end by saying your kids make me love my job. It’s an amazing feeling to wake up each morning knowing I have such a special place to come to and explore and teach these children about art. It’s amazing to see how their minds work and how they can create, and problem solve with just a little help. At the end of the day, I do believe I learn so much from them also and it keeps me feeling young. I’m looking forward to our first day back and running full speed with these Sandpipers!
Artfully yours,
Roger Makar
Music News With Mrs. Eddins
Music Classes will begin with a study of sounds. We will discover that smaller objects produce higher sounds and larger objects produce lower sounds. High/low sounds are called pitch. When we hear sounds - pitches are moving via sound waves. Students will get to produce and observe what sound waves look like in water.

Deputy Lynn-HNP's School Resource Officer
My name is Deputy B. Lynn with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. This is my second year here at Holley Navarre Primary as your School Resource Officer. Prior to this, I was a Field Training Officer and patrol Deputy here in Navarre. I look forward to an exciting year and being part of your children and student’s lives here at HNPS.
We are off to a great start with safety as our main concern. Please be patient with our teachers and staff members while everyone is trying to adjust to the schedule. School hours are from 7:20 am to 1:34 pm. Car riders and walkers can be dropped off beginning at 6:50 am. Please pay attention to kids walking in the cross walks, streets, and parking lots. If your child is a car rider, line up southbound on Las Vegas Trail and remember to drive safe while dropping off and picking up students. Please do not pass cars after picking up or dropping off your child unless told otherwise. It is a huge safety concern. The car rider lines are set up this way for a reason and we will try and move through the line as quickly as possible.
In closing, I am excited to be your SRO here at HNPS and getting to know your students and children. Feel free to ask questions regarding any concerns you may have. If you have a moment, please ask me about our SAFE program which is offered through Santa Rosa County Sherriff's Office. Now let's have a great school year!
