Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,

The first week hosting our 2nd grade CARE classroom has gone extremely well. As we plan for Term 3 and possible future CARE classrooms, we will continue to share updates with families. After the winter break, we plan to host several family engagement opportunities, to discuss the reopen plan and instructional models for Term 3, contingent upon DCPS approval. A preview of those discussions will be provided at our next Hybrid Learning Task Force Meeting on December 18, 2020.

Final decisions on when DC Public Schools will offer in-person learning is not made by school leadership or at the school level and is directed by DCPS Central Office. We will continue to share next steps, as available. A link to DCPS Reopening plans is available under "Previous Updates".

Hyde-Addison Elementary Schools

There will be 20 Hyde-Addison students participating in our school spelling bee next Wednesday, December 16, beginning at 10 AM. Wish them good luck (and remind them to study)!

Be sure to join our final schoolwide meeting of 2020 this Wednesday at 3:00pm!

It is hard to believe that we are almost halfway through Advisory 2. Time flies! As such, it is important to us that we proactively communicate with families when, for a variety of reasons, a child is not on track to meet or exceed grade level expectations by the end of the term. To do so, classroom teachers will be sending home Advisory 2 Progress Reports to families so that they have the information they need to help their child with unfinished work, additional practice, or goal setting before the end of Advisory 2. Progress Reports will be sent via email by January 11, but please note that not all families will receive one. We understand that this has been a challenging year for families and students alike and, through transparent communication and parent-teacher partnerships, we will continue to support academic and social emotional development for our students.

Please remember to visit the DCPS Academic Calendar for clarity on dates. Our teachers will continue teaching until the last moment on Tuesday, December 22 so be sure your child doesn't miss out on valuable and engaging instruction. We will return to instruction on Monday, January 4.
