Are you enjoying the spring flowers in front of Rowe School as much as we are? We'd like to thank PTO Greening Chair Amy Hayes for all her work over the years to help beautify our schoolyard, including planting the tulip bulbs and other perennials that grace the entrance.
As we head into our final stretch of the school year, and with all of our major fundraising behind us, we'll be taking advantage of the warmer weather to enjoy a few more community events. Thanks to all of you who have made these last few weeks so successful! We're grateful for this amazing community we have at Rowe School.
Rowe Recess Runners
Mr. Custeau is still in need of parent volunteers for the Rowe Recess Runners Club spring session, which continues through June 9 during recess (11:45am-1:45pm). Please check out the SignUp Genius if you can support this amazing program by volunteering.
Rowe Spring Recess Runners SignUp Genius
We’d like to congratulate Holden (5th grade) and Lennox (4th grade) for reaching the Marathon Milestone for this year’s Recess Runners! In honor of being the first student to reach that mark, Holden will be throwing out the first pitch for the May 26th Sea Dogs’ game during Rowe Night at the Ballpark (details below).
May 17 Walk, Bike, Bus & Roll Day
Join our Rowe community as we celebrate safe, active and environmentally friendly transportation to school. On Wednesday, May 17, remember to join the fun and walk, bike, bus or roll your way to Rowe (rain date will be Friday, May 19). Please remember to practice safety on the sidewalks and streets, and wear your helmet if you’re biking or scooting.
Wednesday Nights at the Playground
Enjoy the spring weather and meet up with families at the Rowe Playground on May 17, 24 and 31 from 5:30-6:30pm. Deering and Portland High School students will lead soccer and basketball games, and UMaine Cooperative Extension will host 4H activities. The PTO will provide free tea, snacks, and water. We hope to see you!
May 18 Jump Into Math Night
May 19 Rowe Odyssey of the Mind Pasta Supper
Support the OM Technical Team with their final fundraiser before they head to the World Finals. They’re hosting a pasta supper, sponsored by Amato’s at Rowe on Friday, 5/19 at 6:30pm. There will be a silent auction with some great prizes. In addition, they'll present a short film about the team's time in OM and their project in action. More details can be found here.
For future fourth and fifth graders, this is a perfect opportunity to see just what OM is all about. You'll see how their teamwork resulted in a win and opportunity to attend Worlds, and learn more about the program at Rowe and how to join.
May 20 Twin Swirls Day
Saturday, May 20 is Rowe School PTO Day at Twin Swirls Ice Cream. Enjoy a sweet treat between 12-7pm, and 20% of all sales will benefit the PTO! Twin Swirls is located at 885 Brighton Ave.

Snacks!!!
The classrooms are in need of snacks, we know there is only a few weeks left of school, but teachers and students would be grateful if you could send in snacks. Please drop off snacks to Sue Sullivan in the main office and she will get them to classes. Or you can purchase off of this wish list and they will be shipped right to Sue. Thank you.

Your Donations at Work
Fourth graders have recently wrapped up their Health Sciences unit, “Puberty Happens.” This year, the PTO was able to help provide a Puberty Kit for every student, and a Period Kit for those that need them. This wouldn’t have been possible without YOUR continued support for enrichment programming at Rowe. From Ms. Mirisola, Fourth Grade teacher:
“Fourth grade students were so grateful and happy to receive puberty kits, and felt empowered to begin trying out some of the tools they’d learned about in Health Class! Kids have kept their kits in their lockers, which has helped normalize a lot of these changes, and make kids feel more comfortable talking about them. Last week, Ms. Chepke’s whole class could be found applying deodorant in the hallway after returning from gym class! Fourth grade has never smelled so good!”
April Calendar Raffle Wrap-Up
April’s Calendar Raffle was a huge success! We raised more than $7,000, which will help the PTO continue to fund enrichment activities, field trips, school clubs, classroom supplies, support for families in need, and so much more. The complete list of winners is available on our website. Thank you to all who participated, and congratulations to the winners!
