Message for the Week:

As the first quarter comes to a close, I want you to make sure you take time to celebrate all of your accomplishments and those of your students.

I came across the following video this week. Purely food for thought. Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding. Just something to think about.....

Building Assistant Update:

Liz, Debbie, and I met with the building assistant team today to discuss what is going well and what improvements can be made as we close out the 1st quarter.

BA Schedule: Please see the additional column that shows their specific time in the workroom. You can also see their many other responsibilities. Both the BAs and teachers are feeling frustration with work getting completed so we hope the changes made will allow for more time in the work room.
Please mark your direction sheets with the date you need them rather than ASAP.
Publishing Center: Please use the publishing center in addition to our building assistants.
We will be around to have classroom chats with students regarding respect and listening when students are in the care of our BAs.
Please let me know if you have any further concerns.

Elementary Priority Standards: Each grade level has a document in the folder, which lists their priority standards in all core subjects. These are all the most up-to-date, revised priority standards. Please use as you'd like. If you'd like to make your own copy and add it to your drive so you can change it up, use it differently, etc., feel free.

Reminder: Workshops need to be signed up for in MLP weeks in advance, not days in advance or the day of. Thanks!

Box Top Collection

Just a reminder that this week we will be having our box top collection. Please send all box tops to the office. Here is a list of our 5th grade Volunteers for each afternoon. They will meet in the lobby.
