Mask requirement remains in effect
Caldwell School Board extends mask requirement
October 15, 2021
Dear Caldwell Families,
As COVID-19 continues to spread in our community, hospitals throughout the Treasure Valley still remain under Crisis Standards of Care. I would like to update you on some action taken by the Board of Trustees at their Regular Meeting on Thursday, October 14, 2021.
After reviewing COVID-19 data, attendance rates, and talking with health professionals, the Board of Trustees voted to extend the indoor mask mandate for all District students and staff. Trustees voted to revisit the requirement when one of these conditions are met:
- Hospitals in the Treasure Valley are no longer under Crisis Standards of Care
- COVID-19 Vaccines become available for children 5-11 years old
- When community spread is at moderate levels for Canyon County
The mask requirement still applies to school transportation. The Board will continue to review COVID-19 data and information at upcoming meetings to see if any other action needs to be taken.
The goal of the district is to keep school open and students attending every day.
We are still encouraging our families to support this goal by doing the following to reduce the spread of the virus in our schools and our community:
Please do not send your children to school if they are sick or have been exposed to a COVID positive individual or family member;
If your child is waiting on a COVID test result, please do not send them to school;
Please consider getting a COVID vaccination for individuals age 12 or older in your family. Here’s a site to schedule an appointment: https://phd3.idaho.gov/covid19/#Vaccine.
As a reminder, all visitors to our schools and district facilities are still required to wear masks.
We appreciate your partnership during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
Dr. N. Shalene French
Superintendent
