Homecoming Week will be held October 10-13. (Please note that there is no school for students on Monday, October 9, as this is a teacher work day.) Dress-up days are below. Attire must follow school dress code.
- Tuesday, October 10 - Country vs. Country Club
- Wednesday, October 11 - Destination Day
- Thursday, October 12 - Pink Out
- Friday, October 13 - Blue & white
The Powderpuff game will be held on Thursday, October 12, at 2:55. We'll be following the activity schedule below. The cost for students to attend will be $2. Girls interested in playing should see Mrs. Zodrow in room 114. The first 15 girls from each grade level that meet the requirements below will be allowed to play:
- Must pay $2 entry fee
- Must not have any referrals
- Must have a 2.0+ GPA
- Must not have any attendance issues
The parade will begin at 2:30 on Friday, October 13. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle, and the money will go to WHS Student Government which funds all Homecoming activities. Students must contact Mrs. Zodrow (zodrowca@walton.k12.fl.us / room 114) to participate in the parade. It will run the entire lakeyard loop. Line-up for WHS students will be at Walton Middle School's bus ramp at 2:00.
The Homecoming dance will be held on Friday, October 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and may be purchased during lunches through October 11. Students bringing someone from another school must pick up a form from the front office & return it by October 11. Middle school students & individuals over 21 are NOT allowed to attend.
Girls' dress code:
- Dresses must be at least mid-thigh in length.
- Midriffs should NOT be exposed (front & sides).
- Dresses may be strapless or have spaghetti straps.
- Excessive cleavage is not allowed.
Boys' dress code:
- Jeans or khakis
The theme for floats, hallways, and skits is "Braves Storm The Cities." Decorations for each grade level should be related to the following cities:
- Freshmen - New Orleans, LA
- Sophomores - Miami, FL
- Juniors - Nashville, TN
- Seniors - Las Vegas, NV

Senior Career/ Job Shadow Day- Oct. 11
Job shadowing gives our students the opportunity to network and learn from individuals in their field of interest and determine whether a career path is right for them. Seniors that choose to participate will not be missing morning classes, as we're giving the PSAT/SAT NCR test to other students that day.
Seniors that are interested in participating but need help connecting with an employer/business to shadow should contact Ms. Resch (reschw@walton.k12.fl.us / room 117). Seniors that participate should take a signed & dated note from the person they shadowed to the SSA office by October 13, so we can mark your absence as excused.

Marching Band Event Oct.13
Our Alumni Night will be held on Friday, October 13. All Walton High School Band alumni are invited to participate and are encouraged to play with us in the stands & in a special halftime show performance.
Make-Up Pictures & Retakes- Oct. 16
Make-up pictures & retakes will be held on Monday, October 16. Students requesting retakes must have their original proof forms in hand. New students and students that were absent on the original picture day, Sept. 8, should be sure to get their pictures taken. These pictures will be the ones included in the yearbook.

Volunteers Needed for Night Hike
Hometown Christmas Pageant- Register by Oct. 20
The 2023 Miss Hometown Christmas Pageant will be held in the Walton High School Auditorium on Saturday, November 4, at 5:00 p.m. The pageant is open to contestants that attend school or reside within Walton County.
Divisions:
- Miss (grades 10-12)
- Teen Miss (grades 7-9)
- Junior Miss (grades 4-6)
- Young Miss (grades 2 & 3)
- Little Miss (kindergarten & 1st grade)

Students will not miss class to attend, as we'll be testing other grade levels during the college visit times. Students must also have an extracurricular form on file in the main office to attend these college visits. Extra permission forms may be picked up in the SSA office.

There are seats available in the following areas at Emerald Coast Technical College for the spring semester (January 2024). A parent/student meeting is required for consideration.
