Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

Happy December! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. My daughter just started a new volleyball season, so my life is about to be full of "bump, set, spike!" She is excited about her new team and anxious to start playing. Our first tournament is next weekend.

Creekside has been full of holiday happiness. Some classes have received packages from the North Pole, and kindergarten classes are going to be searching the campus for pesky little gingerbread man cookies soon. Thank you for the donations for this activity. It is one of my favorite. We are going to have a few optional holiday dress up days over the next two weeks. See the schedule below.

As a reminder, if your child is out on a independent study contract, please check in at the school office to turn in the paperwork when they return to school. Thank you for your support.

The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we navigate the 2021-22 school year.

Important Updates and Information:

Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon! Mark your calendars for 12/13-12/16. The PTA will provide opportunities for parents to shop before and after school. If you are willing to help in the Book Fair, please contact Stephanie Green in the school office.
Please make sure that you send your student to school with a mask and a water bottle.
The CELC staff is partnering with Santa's Lions Club to support families in need at Christmas. If you are someone you know that has a child at CELC could use a little holiday cheer this year, please contact the school office.
Don't forget to wear a college shirt on Mondays and a CELC shirt on Fridays!
AUSD's next Kindness Dress Up day is Wednesday, January 5th. "We are Kindness Heroes". Wear a superhero shirt.
Winter break is from December 20th-31st. We will return to school on January 3rd.
As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am.
Students can be dropped off at the curb in the morning as long as there is a staff member present and it is before 9:05 am.
It's not too late to join the PTA. Membership information is attached below! Checks or Venmo are accepted. Call the office for more information at 619-659-8250.

Attention MVLA Parents

Join the family fun on Thursday, December 16th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. It's time for our annual breakfast in our PJs party. We will also be having a "California" snowball fight. Warm up your throwing arms!

Please remember to send your student to school with a mask and a water bottle daily.

COVID-19 Testing

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Her goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs. Check out the latest Cub sightings! Three current Cubs and one future Cub were spotted this weekend.

Volunteers Wanted

Please contact Stephanie Green in the office if you have any questions about PTA and any other volunteer opportunities.If you haven't already, please make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in. This includes an up-to-date TB test, the volunteer form, and proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. Persons not vaccinated are required to show a negative PCR COVID-19 test within the previous 7 days of your volunteer day. Please check with your child's teacher for any opportunities coming up. The office could utilize volunteers as well. Let us know if you like to organize!

We have a need for adult volunteers to help clean out some spaces on campus. If anyone is willing to volunteer after school or on the weekend, please let us know.

Cafeteria Menus

Do Good December

Join our AUSD family in utilizing resources at www.actionforhappiness.org. They have monthly themes and ideas to help keep us Happier-Kinder-Together!

This month, Action for Happiness is encouraging people to carry out small acts of kindness. This has been another difficult year of uncertainty and ups and downs for many of us. Kindness is contagious, and helping others has been proven to make us feel better too! Let's try to focus on being generous with our time and attention rather than money - it's free and better for everyone, as well as our planet!
