Hello Primary Pups!
As we about to enter the Thanksgiving Season, it's a perfect time to share how thankful I am for our Wall Primary School Community. We are so blessed to have such an amazing faculty and staff. We have abundantly supportive parents and remarkable students who make us smile everyday. Our PTA has kept our faculty room stocked with goodies and they are working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring us a Holiday Pop-Up shop so our students have a few presents to put under the tree. We get the first look at the future of our school community, and from where I'm standing, that future is bright! We are a lucky bunch!
Our big event this month was Election Day! On November 7th, our students each took a turn in our very own voting booth to cast their ballot for this year's Holiday Movie. You may have heard from your children that this year's winner is "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." It beat out "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" by a vote count of 39-31. Our Pups loved exercising their civic duty! Take a moment to watch the little video of Ms. L's AM class on Election Day!
Today, our teachers are hosting the annual Fall Festival for our students. They have planned wonderful activities (all Fall themed) for our Pups to partake in. On Festival days, students get to travel from class to class as each one presents a new experience!
Next week is a short week as we all get to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families. AM students will come to school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and PM students will come to school on Monday and Tuesday. Remember, when there is an early dismissal for the district, our PM classes are canceled. School resumes for everyone on 11/27.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Embon

Rhyme Time
The last few Rhyme Time activities suggested in the Pups Press exposed children to rhymes and asked them to recognize words that rhyme. In the final stage of rhyming, children are asked to produce words that rhyme. Please remember that nonsense words count, too!
Below are some activities that you can do with your child where he/she is asked to hear a word and then independently produce their own word that rhymes with it. Remember, these activities can be done anywhere (car, walk, supermarket) and only take a few minutes.
Rhyme production: Say “Let’s play a game. I’ll say three words that rhyme and sound alike at the end. You say one more word that rhymes. It can be a silly word. Let’s start: hinky pinky, slinky, ____”. Your child provides a rhyming word.
Body part rhymes: Point to a part of your body and ask your child to think of a rhyming word. For example, what rhymes with hair? (exs: bear, dare). What rhymes with eye? (exs: pie, kie) What rhymes with head (exs: bed, zed). Make it more challenging by asking for two or three rhyming words.
The Ship is Loaded with…: To start, tell your child that a ship is set to sail somewhere and needs to be loaded up with many silly things. Tell them you are going to start by saying what the ship is loaded with. They then need to say additional things that the ship is loaded with that rhymes with what you said. For example you say, “The ship is loaded with cheese.” Your child would repeat, “The ship is loaded with….” and fill in a rhyming word (exs: trees, pees, bees). Next, you would say, “The ship is loaded with mats.” Your child would repeat, “The ship is loaded with…” and fill in a rhyming word (exs: cats, bats, gats).
“Rhymers will be readers: it’s that simple. – Mem Fox, Author of The Magic Hat

🦃 7 Mindsets: Attitude of Gratitude
The months of November and December are dedicated to the exploration of the mindset, ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE.
Through the ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Mindset, we are taught that we can use either the positives or negatives in our lives as a foundation on which to build. Choose the positives, and we are on our way toward extraordinary success! By focusing on the things we have, there is no time to be distracted by what we don’t have.
4 Key Components:
- Treasure Yourself
- Be More Grateful
- Thank it Forward
- Elevate Your Perspective

🥗 Staying Healthy During Cold, Flu, Covid Season
Suggestions to stay healthy during cold, flu, and COVID season are helpful during this busy time of year. Habits like frequent handwashing, exercising, eating a balanced meal, and getting plenty of rest are the best ways to maintain a healthy immune system. If you experience symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID, please stay home. If you have a temperature greater than 100.0, you must be fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. Those diagnosed with COVID, whether it be symptomatic or asymptomatic, should be isolated for 5 days, beginning on the first full day of symptoms (or the day you were tested if asymptomatic), and may return to school on day 6 if symptom-free. If you have any questions, you can refer to the guidelines on the district website or speak directly with the School Nurse.
