You can read yourself or have someone else read the books to you. Books can be set in the region, about characters from the region or written/illustrated by people from the region.
Completed reading logs should be turned in to president@nhe-pta.org and any student who turns in at least one log will be entered into a drawing for a prize. (reading log does not need to be filled completely to qualify)

Staff Spotlight - Sadean Al-Ali
My name is Sadean Al-Ali (Mrs. Al-Ali) and I am so honored to be the assistant principal at NHE. Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I was born in Amman, Jordan but have lived in Washington State since I was 2. I grew up in Snohomish with my wonderful parents, sister, and cat named Lilly. I went to college at Western Washington University where I received my degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I later continued to receive my master’s in educational leadership, and my administrative certificate from the University of Washington – GO DAWGS! I have been a part of Bellevue School District for 9 years now and have worked at a variety of schools. I hope to have the chance to build relationships with a whole entire school community of learners and learn from each and every one of those amazing human beings. I have the prospect of opening more doors for those who’ve had those doors closed on them and will lead with my core values of equity, wisdom and collaboration. Where historically marginalized voices can finally be heard and where the education truly reaches each student regardless of the differences of ability, race, culture, ethnicity, religion and socio-economic status.
As an educator, I place a strong emphasis on valuing the whole child, developing relationships with students and their families, and supporting social-emotional growth. Of course, academics are important, but your child’s overall wellbeing (especially now in these uncertain times) will always be my top priority. I am looking forward to partnering with each of you this year to support your child’s growth as a person and a learner!
Outside the classroom, I love playing tennis, being outdoors, DIY projects, traveling and spending time with my husband, Khaled, and my friends and family.
