Our Battle of the Books team did an outstanding job competing this week and finished third place in their competition. Thank you to our Media Specialist, Ms. Noble for coaching our team.
Our Pops, Pizza and Preschool event was a huge success with over 70 in attendance. We appreciate the support our Prek school Dads give to the development and learning of our preschoolers. Thank you to our Prek teachers, Mrs. Pajak, Ms. Cothran, Ms. Secore, Ms. Lewis and Ms. Strickland for hosting such a special event.
Interim Reports go home on Monday, so please check your child's bookbag.
Join us for a Souper Bowl Food Drive for our CHEW Program. The class that brings in the most canned foods for the month of February will win a pizza party from Mrs. Welchel, the school social worker.
April is Month of the Military Child, a time when we celebrate the 1.6 million military children who face challenges due to their loved one's service. Purple Up Day is April 19. All 5th grade students will play recorders this year. Please purchase your child's recorder by ordering https://onslow.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/22181/250/False/Trueby Tuesday, February 27. The cost is $6.
On Friday, March 1 our fifth graders will be going to Coastal Community College for Careers on Wheels, Wings and Water free event. Please make sure that your child returns their permission slip by Tuesday.
Our Family Literacy Night and Book Fair is Thursday, March 7 from 5:30-7:00. This is a very special evening of fun, so please bring the whole family. We will have free activities and sessions for each grade level. Our Book Fair opens on Monday, March 4 until Friday, March 8. Colevanelli's will be selling their ice cream and pretzels. Each student who attends will get a FREE book and homework pass. We would love to have guest readers during Reading Week. If you are interested, please contact your child's teacher.

New Onslow County Policy:
For the safety of our students, no vehicles are to be on campus more that 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Dismissal starts at 3:15; therefore, cars should not be parked for dismissal prior to 2:45. Please drive slowly when arriving on campus. There will be five orange cones placed for each car to stop, so students can be let out by a staff member. You will pull forward and a staff member will load your child. Staff members will not buckle your child in their seat; however, they will open the car door for them.
Edulog's Bus Transportation
If you have questions regarding buses (bus number, bus stop location, pickup/drop off time) please use the Edulog Parent App on your Smartphone. You will need your child's Powerschool number in order to set up an account and access the bus information. Your child's teacher will have your child's Powerschool number at Orientation.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year
* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years
* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom
* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
