Our STEAM Magnet is winning awards!

We are pleased to announce that our magnet has won the Magnet Schools of America National Award of Merit. We are so proud of our Merit School of Distinction recognition. Keep up the good work everyone!

TEACHERS OF THE MONTH

Ms. Perez

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful social studies teacher for our Magnet! Ms. Perez has been a wonderful addition to our team! She has also been teaching VEX robotics to our 7th and 8th-grade students! Go, Ms. Perez!

Ms. Reonal

One of our valued veteran teachers, Ms. Reonal, has helped to keep our program tip-top! Not only does she teach 6th-grade math but she also teaches Koov and Vex robotics! We are excited to see what the kids can do at the next competition!

Ms. Gomez

Ms. Gomez is our 7th and 8th-grade English teacher! She helps our students learn reading, literature, and writing. She has incorporated arts and sciences in her reading choices for a well-rounded STEAM curriculum.

Welcome Ms. Fleetwood! Our new English and Journalism teacher!

The 8th graders went to Baldwin Hills to discover the origin of rocks and minerals, the flora and fauna of the mountains, and see where the water begins to flow.
The seventh graders went to the LA River to see where the river takes its rocks and minerals, how they are filtered naturally as well as the flora and fauna of the region.
The 6th graders ventured to the beach to learn about the importance of keeping our ocean clean for the plants and animals that live there.
Our entire school participated in this annual event honoring our top students by grade level, many of which were from our magnet. Students who earned a 3.0 to 3.49 earned a certificate. Students who earned a 3.5 or above earned a certificate and a medal. Students who earned a 4.0 earned a certificate, a medal, and a pin. Students who earned all E's earned an additional pin.
